Strangely enough the Sports Illustrated swimsuit edition app is available. At least, right now anyway

The whole censorship saga at Apple does not help them. They might get a few extra customers, I suppose parents might be willing to give their kids an iPhone thinking that it is a porn free, forgetting about the internet.

That link doesn't work for me.

On the whole sensorship thing though, I think Apple should realisethat people are able to make their own decisions when it comes to taste. Sure if an app has bugs or whatever then don't let it on te store.

But for what is, essentially, a personal choice, Apple should leave it to the user. Of course, there could be parental control over the devices so they can't access the sort if content Apple are currently banning but to ban it on taste grounds seems patronising to me.

It’s always a personal choice. This is why Apple’s censorship fails. One person may consider Top Model pornographic, another may consider PlayBoy acceptable.

Oh, look: http://itunes.apple.com/gb/app/playboy/id340150554?mt=8 (iTunes link)

OK, no nudity, but I bet the amount of flesh and curves on show here is much the same as would be on the Top Model app.

It's a pointless exercise in fact. You can buy a the 'Zinio' app for the iphone/iPad. That's a viewer for the digital versions of 'newsstand' magazines. You can buy any copy of any of the magazines the company hosts from inside the app. Two of the publications the Zinio system carries are Playboy and Penthouse (and T3, for us geeks...). So if you want to you can have high res image copies of this month's largely naked woman of choice, no problem at all.

Parental controls would solve all these problems. Yes it is patronising.

I suppose it brings a whole new definition to 'you're holding it wrong'.

Yes but we are not the demographic that America's Next Top Model is aimed at. ;)

I think you've missed the point.

This is what is wrong with the App store. Someone else is making the call for you.
