It's gone. Thanks both.

That's interesting and good to know, thanks from me also :)

Life in a Day
The global YouTube experiment 'Life in a Day' will see filmmakers Ridley Scott and Kevin Macdonald edit footage from the 24 hours of YouTube uploads that take place on 24 July.

That's also what I was told by "Purple door", my university's employment agency type thing who help students find and apply for jobs.

I just logged into the uni's portal to look at their materials and the usual pop-up with news had just one entry:

http://www.guardian.co.uk/money/2010/ju ... ce-romance

They've obviously had problems in the past with students going on placement!

Yeah, it does doesn't it.
I'm trying to think of what to shoot so I can contribute.

The only place an employer can legitimately ask for it during the recruitment process is for equal opportunities monitoring which should be confidential and form no part of the selection process (whether you believe that is true or not).

Not strictly true. If you can prove that being of a particular age or age range is a "genuine occupational qualification", you can ask.

To give another example, if you run a Spanish restaurant and you want all Spanish staff, you might have a case to only see Spanish applicants. But you have to satisfy the relevant people, if asked, that having all Spanish staff is essential to your business.

You can make anything a GOQ, if your business is geared around it. I can't think of an example to do with age, but it is possible.

There must be so many vacancies for that job, because I know dozens of people who practice for it regularly :)

It must be very competitive, so many people qualified for the job and willing to put extra hours in to achieve results. :D

Well, trading standards but still - the authorities.

My dads best mate (who owns an off license) got stung - they sent in a 17 year old dressed in a smart business suit, dolled right up, and buying an expensive bottle of wine.

He fought it in court and won the case :-)
