I mean taking in the standards of the genre; charismatic actors even if they're rubbish  , action sequences that actually serve the mad as a bag of badgers plot, great music etc.

Con Air? :?

Seriously, nothing else is springing to mind :(

True Lies is the only one that comes to mind.

I'm a big fan of Arnie's action work (even his most recent efforts are better than most of today's action films), but I'd rate The Rock or Con Air over 'Lies, even though it's a good film :)

Wanted was good, haven't seen Shoot Em Up. They were still considering Wanted 2 last I read...

Gamer, the plot makes no sense and is completely unfeasible, but there are some nice explosions and gun fights. characters are all asshats though :(

there should be a Duke Nukem movie. itd probably go the way of Doom (or DNF :P ), but itd be worth it for the cheesey one-liners and awesome weaponry :D

On the whole, I think that genre of "just action - nothing else" ended with the last millennium. People want more from movies now.

Gamer was utter wank, but definitely silly and definitely had plenty of action.

The Rock and Con Air are true classics, but that's Bruckheimer in his heyday for you.

Haven't seen it yet, but the A-Team should fit. As will The Expendables. Missed The Losers because this county is a [LIFTED] hole with no buying power for the studios. Although, technically that was a comic book movie anyway.

Shoot Em Up was great and silly and tons of action, so that counts.

Bourne Identity.

Just rewatched the trilogy on DVD. The first one doesn't meet the criterion of "silly" but definitely good and action.

The first two that come to mind are Planet Terror and District 13.

Crank was a pretty silly action film too. Not subjected myself to Crank 2.

Shoot 'Em Up was excellent. Far better than I expected.
