I just convinced my brother to take the iPhone 4 over a Galaxy S and HTC Desire. Its his first ever Apple device so I'm interested to see what he makes of it. He's also a complete retard when it comes to tech.
P.S. I do understand the other phones can be had free but he was going to buy an iPod to be used in a dock in his conservatory/gym so that cost offset the purchase price over a 'free' handset.

As opposed to a 3rd party contract where you get the phone free and a free gift of an ipod?

Dialaphone did a few weeks ago on the Desire IIRC, can't get on their site at work now though, mind the Galaxy S can be had under £25 a month on a decent tariff with a free phone

An iPod Touch would be good for all your Apps, films and music. iTunes syncing works so well with an iPod. That would leave the Galaxy for making calls. Simples.

yeah, but now you're carrying two gadgets around rather than one. Why not just have, I dunno, an iPod Touch that also works as a phone? Is there such a thing?

Did you read the description for the user, device is staying in one place in a conservatory, it's carrying one device, not 2

I think the dock would stay in once place but once he'd got an ipod I presume he'd use it in the car and stuff. Its a done deal now anyway, he's gone with Orange on the £35 contract (£129 iPhone 4 IIRC)

I'm still yet to use an iPhone 4. Right now, I am quite happy with my 3G. However, I am considering replacing the battery - and the back case is showing its age from the usual wear and tear. It's also got a couple of cracks in it near the dock connector so I would replace the back casing too if I replaced the battery. I might decide that I want an iPhone 4 in six months time, though.

By that time though you'll only have 5 months to wait for the iPhone 5

Well, iPhone 4.5 if the 3G/3GS thing is anything to go by. At the moment I think I will stick with my 3G and then get the iPhone 5 in two years. The thing is, when I say that I find myself thinking there's no way that my 3G is going to keep me happy/survive for 2 years.
