Yep

Especially as Virgin choose to only do Cities or very large/rich towns.... makes me wonder why they haven't done my town... would have a lot of business from people sick of 2mb internet connections.

Even worse I am a 5 minute walk from each exchange, one is literally along the road.... yet it sucks so badly

I know we've had this sooooo many times before, but things change. I used to be very happy with mine, but now I hate them!

So, who are you with and how do you rate them? Please address the following points:

1. Are you on a BT Wholesale, LLU or Cable product?
2. How are your pings?
3. How are your download speeds on and off peak?
4. Can you stream video consistently without buffering?
5. How heavy is your usage?

1. I'm on a LLU product. O2 Premium
2. Image
3. Image
Though it is usually more. It is usually at least 13Meg though Steam usually downloads at 1.5MB/s
4. 4OD kept stalling last week when streaming. Not tried iPlayer yet

5 Quite heavy as I have been downloading Steam games recently.

My router says I'm connected as 15,707 kbps

Next G mobile Internet with Telstra (bigger [LIFTED] than BT)
2GB for $50, 30GBP

There are cheaper options with other providers but they just don't have the coverage.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

At home it's O2 standard "up to" but with the fluke of having a very nearby exchange so we can generally watch BBC HD on iPlayer without buffering. Download speeds on a bad day are 850KB/s and I game occasionally with pings varying from 25-75ms depending on the time of day. Usage is high - we tend to stream a lot of internet TV, probably about 4 hours daily.

1) Plusnet, not sure which type.
2) fine for my needs
3) fine for the last few years, though at my old house on a slower connection I really noticed a slow down at peak times.
4) Yes, that's fine.
5) My account allows for 10GB (unlimited between midnight and 6am), but I only use about 2 or 3 GB a month.

lol, funny someone should drag this up again because I have a question!

Has anyone else noticed UDP packet shaping on uploads? On Opal we're seeing it throttled to <80Kbps at all times, which makes it a real problem trying to use VoIP. On F2S I'm seeing even stranger behaviour with the packets seemingly being modified rather than just being dropped :?

The clearest sign you might see of this is when running bittorrent. Download speeds are fine, but when seeding most people keep dropping off. Occasionally one client will connect at good speed, but usually just for a single chunk.

I have noticed something. VM have a cap between 9am and 9 pm. Though seeding in the evening is very slow and it tails off to very low levels after 7pm to around after midnight. Browsing is fine as is mail.

1. Are you on a BT Wholesale, LLU or Cable product?
Not sure, BT I think

2. How are your pings?
In WoW normally get around 100ms, maybe lower

3. How are your download speeds on and off peak?
Some days I can download stuff quick, other days it'll be slow as hell

4. Can you stream video consistently without buffering?
Sometimes - depends if there's someone else on the connection or not.

5. How heavy is your usage?
Not too bad I don't think

Better than anything I've had in the UK but slower than 52% of Denmark.

That's nice, although the pings could be better. What type of circuit is that?
