What are the arguments for keeping Trident? In all seriousness, I'm struggling... :?

Just so Dave can say he has his finger on the big red button. I am not really a supporter of trident. I would rather they use the money for the carriers and supporting the new class of subs. They could build nuke warheads for the cruise missiles and put them on the new subs so still having a last ditch weapon. Also if the big one does kick off the cruise missiles will be just as effective because many defences will be dealing with the EMP of the american nukes, so defences would be less effective anyway, giving cruises a good chance. Plus against any other nation a cruise could be just as effective and a lot cheaper. The money saved should be ploughed back into service mens homes. Also ensuring that once they leave the services that they have accommodation. Too many ex service men are homeless.
