I don't really understand the concept of people who "can't cook". Follow the instructions -> make errors -> learn -> don't make the errors in the future.

Homemade.Healthness() > Takeaway.Healthiness() Homemade.MSG_Content() < Takeaway.MSG_Content() Homemade.Brownie_Pts_with_wife() > Takeaway.Brownie_Pts_with_wife()

All good points, so we're looking at maybe 5-1 now. @Ben: Iterative development FTW! (8-p)

Actually … does this include the cost of fuel getting to the supermarket and back, as well as the time cost whilst you are actually in the shop getting all the ingredients and waiting at the till to pay? I think homemede may lose out on the cost factor. Mark

I much prefer prototyping...Do it once crap then do it again properly once you know what's entailed I think my dissertation was a hybrid of the waterfall, iterative and prototyping...

Development is iterative by definition surely?

But all of those things are shrunk by the number of meals you get out of each trip. In Bath I walk home and stop at Sainsbury's on the way, normally picking up 5 or 6 days worth of food. At home, when I have to drive, I can get a fortnight's worth in one go.

True, but there's also prep. time and cooking time. I think this one is a close call. Mark

Now I counted that in convenience (although I tend to make more and freeze). I don't charge myself for hours worked (8-p).

Then you're not doing a like-for-like comparison and your whole argument falls apart. Mark

Ummm, no. It's like for like in terms of "cost to Edd for takeaway" compared to "cost to Edd for doing it himself". I lose the convenience of the takeaway, so have a bit less time, but it's cheaper.

Okay, that's fine. In terms of "cost to Mark for takeaway" compared to "cost to Mark for doing it himself" it's actually too close to call. (8+) Mark

How NSFW is the NSFW thread? It's bugging me that there's a thread that I don't know whether I'm interested in or not!
