Online gaming's about to get all smite-y - now that a Bible MMO is in the works.

The browser-based Bible Online is massively-multiplayer game from German developer FiAA, and is based around players re-enacting certain parts of the Good Book over a number of chapters.

Chapter 1, The Heroes, will be the first release of the game and sees you control Abraham and his descendants on their journey to the promised land.

The whole thing has the look and sound of Age of Empires with its own "hero" system for levelling up and transferring skills - as Abraham recruits new characters like Isaac and Jacob.

The Bible Online will kick off on September 6 but it's taking beta testers now. Amen.

I'm predicting it'll be bigger than Jesus ;)

It'll be violent, I'm sure there will be calls for it to be banned...

Will it be broken up into two games Old and New Testaments, and will they have a sequel The Koran MMO.

As much as I hate the Scientology cult, I'd imaging an MMO based on their beliefs would be much more fun. Galactic War Lords and intergalactic space travel. Think Elite crossed with Star Wars.

I think it involves eating Apples at level one to get ejected to level two. ;)
