Suggestion in the office here to increase your 'pigeon broadband bandwidth.'
Instead of strapping a memory stick or whatever to the pigeon, put a tiny radio beacon on it. Then have a small automatic helicopter drone which is designed to follow the pigeon's beacon and has an inbuilt SSD hard drive, say 40GB.
Optionally, strap into the drone small models of a furtive looking man with a large stripey hat and thin moustache and a scruffy looking dog.

IPoAC has a long history; RFC 2549, IP over Avian Carriers with Quality of Service (1 April 1999). http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/IP_over_Avian_Carriers"this technology suffers from poor latency. Nevertheless, for large transfers avian carriers are capable of high average throughput when carrying flash memory devices."

Why do people who live in the countryside demand a fast Internet connection?? 100-200kbps on a farm seems fine to me.
It's ridiculous - you can't have everything. I live in the city so I have a reasonable connection. The thing is tho, my wildlife and scenery is naff - I only have rats, mice, pigeons and the occasional fox. Where are my dear, owls and meadows??

I hardly live in the countryside, but I am fairly remote, I'd like a faster internet connection. I have the sea, you have the sea, I have hills, and you have hills...

I have hills?????
I don't need meadows and wildlife. I've chosen to live in the city because I want the convenience and facilities. One of the things I like about it is the comms infra-structure.
You've chosen to live in a "fairly remote" location so it can't be that important to you or you'd have chosen to live somewhere else.

The agency I worked for still used a courier and external hard drives for transferring data between the studio and the office. Carrying a days shoot in an external drive would take about 1.5 hours, uploading it to the office servers would take about a week...

Why do people in cities demand and expect fresh food? Come on Nick, your argument is getting a little old and tired.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Actually this test could be just as valid with motor cycle couriers.
