He may well do. And personally, he represents a lot of things that I am against. But to some people, he's the head of their religion. A bit of tact will get you a long way, Bratty.

To be fair to Bratty he never said that, he said that the pope probably covers up for paedos, and let's face it, that's an opinion that may have some truth behind it.

Hasn't evidence come to light recently that suggested not only did the Vatican cover up incidents concerning paedophiles, but that both the British and Irish governments (in addition to others) were complicit in such cover-ups?

When all is said and done wasn't it just a joke? More than that you could say it was a fancy play with letters to create a joke.
Not that I think wrong of someone who finds it offensive. Lots of jokes are offensive to some people.
To me though it was just a joke.
