Until my broadband is fast enough, I'm gonna stick to physical media for games.
I sometimes wish I was still living in Dorset, where I had a proper 20-meg connection that ran between 17-meg and 20-meg. Now I have to content myself with crappy 2-meg "broadband". Barely enough for BBC iPlayer.

Physical media ain't what it used to be. I've bought several games on "physical media", only to find the game had to be activated on Steam anyway.

I prefer discs as well. At least you can reinstall if necessary, especially on an older machine that is not safe to connect to the internet.

I think steam is now the main gamestore for PC games for me. The Only issue is the odd game that requires to be online at all time but that would still be a problem if I had the physical media. Then again I dont have Amnesias problem of having unsafe machines I also have a rock steady 17 meg BB speed (the best part of being on VM cable!) so downloading a game doesnt take too long.. phew!

I was actually thinking more along the ideas of older games, that only run on old OSes

Steam has redefined gaming for me. The only games I have bought in the last year have been from them (almost all from sale batches), and I still haven't finished playing through all the games I got. There are months of new playability left for whenever I feel like it.
Plus I have installed them on my laptop and desktop. I just login on whichever I'm using at the time. I can re-install any games if it all goes pear-shaped, without worrying about sratched discs. It does take all night to download a game though!

Thats why I still have a machine with XP as well as W7 and dos box for the really ancient games. That usually covers most older games.
