Although in his case wasn't it his Aunts who were always the ones trying to get him to change his ways?

Women never tell you straight. Even/especially when you ask for it and it involves emotions.

Just managed to upset another one last night because I thought she thought one thing, but she actually thought something else and hadn't revealed it to me. And I spend a lot of time around women, so I'd like to think I can tell when they're hiding something. I just can't tell WHAT it is. Oh well. Like Mark and Alex, might take a break from trying to understand.

Can I add a corollary to this? Women think they can hide things from men much more than they actually can, and I for one find it intensely irritating. However I'm generally far too much of a gentleman to point this out them, which is probably only reinforcing the behaviour.

Everyone had it in for Bertie, but fiancees like Florence Craye, Honoria Glossop et al, were always saying things along the lines of "After we're married, you'll have to get rid of Jeeves, give up going to The Drones, get a job." and so on.

Doesn't it change all the time? Like when the crew of The Enterprise have to keep changing the frequency of the shields to stop the Borg destroying them?

I'm not sure ALL women are evil ;) , but I think that there is a fundamental difference in that men will usually accept a woman as she is; they'll either want to be with her or they won't and that's it. But women don't do that. They will want to be with a guy and, once with him, will then start trying to change him. Bertie Wooster faced this situation many times. :)

Yes I will agree. Men will want the woman to stay exactly the same, whereas women will look at a man as a work-in-progress.

Ive seen this myself, to put it short, friend of one of my "friends" get on really well with him, he chose the most awful gf ever who changed him for the worst, he was so protective of this cow and he lost all his friends etc ,seems all that mattered was that silly bitch of a gf, years later they broke up and thus he seemed to be broken from the spell that bounded him, he got all his mates back and he reverted being back into mr cool again, quite scary

Another example is a friend of my sisters, he is extremely shy all the time, If I try talk to him then he stutters and really struggles. Once he got together with a ex friend of my sisters this friend was proper poison, she was a bitch too, me and sis hated her and since we dont recognise this "friendly shy nice" boy anymore, because of her he was drunk last time I saw him and he was acting the hotshot etc. I was irritated by him and felt like saying something along the lines of "why are you acting as though youre gods gift etc? when we all know you are nothing but a mouse as soon as you start sobering up" etc etc I just felt like kicking the s**t out of his smug face tbh.

so my theory is the vibes that some girls give out is rat poison or something, they cant be human.

Mark Twain famously said "Men go Into a relationship hoping the woman won't change; Women go into a relationship hoping the man will. Both end up disappointed."
