Reminds me of the time when I dropped a pizza. Had just finished a week of nightshifts, and to reward myself, decided to heat up some pizza. As I was taking it out of the oven, my hand touched one of the racks and I automatically jerked my hand away. Result was pizza on the floor, cheese side face down. I then proceeded to heat a micro pizza in the microwave and as I was carrying it away, I somehow managed to let my plate slip in my hand so the pizza landed on the floor. At that point I gave up and went to bed.

I bought a new 7-day heating controller. It specifically stated it was "easy to program". It took me an hour of reading the instruction to figure it out! Yep, I said "reading the instructions" They're in a version of English only understood by the Chinese. You program it via a binary look-up table using the sun and moon keys. There are 6 programmable tables, 1010 to 1111, each comprising 3 8 bit numbers. So for example, I've set table 1010 to 00000011, 00000000, 00111111 where the 0 represents "economy mode" for the hours 0 - 6 and 9 - 5 and the 1s "comfort mode" for 7 - 8 and 6 - 12pm. You then assign each day of the week to a different table; so I have days 0001 - 0101 assigned to table 1001 and days 0110 - 0111 assigned to table 1011 which is set to 00000000, 00001111, 1111111. That means the heating comes on at midday on the weekends. Simples!! I actually don't mind the binary, but you can only set it to the nearest hour. I actually wanted to set the weekday am time as 07:30 - 08:30 which is impossible, unless I set the clock 30 minutes out!! Additionally, you can only set two temperatures.. "economy mode" and "comfort mode". My old controller could set different temperatures for different times of day, but it couldn't be set for weekends and then it broke... On the plus side, it cost about £12

For that price, I'd just bin it and buy another one that works the way you want it to.

Great [/sarcasm] I get up at stupid o'clock to get up to Aberdeen. When I get here they tell me I've been delayed until tomorrow. The beggers aren't even paying me for today.

Agreed to repair friends iPhone 3gs which had a broken screen. She had already ordered the replacement so I very varefully opened the iphone with the terrible tools provided. Peeled off hundreds of tiny shards of glass, got one in my hand. Finally had screen ready to fit replacement only to find she had bought the wrong thing .. glass only, no digitiser attached! So got her to order the correct part which arrived 2 days later. As I had put the iphone back together, minus the glass, I now had no way to remove the screen without levering the actual display itself. Found a suction cup and stuck it to the actual led and pulled while praying. The screen came out with cage attached and didn't appear damaged. So I replaced the Glass with the digitiser attached and re-assembled the phone (very tiny screws & double sided sticky tape), fitted the 3 tiny connectors and pressed the power button. No display. I could see the backlight coming on and the phone would show up in itunes but no display at all. I then tried disconnecting and reconnecting the display at least 10 times, every time same result. I took my 3g apart and tried that screen but the connectors wouldn't fit her phone. Mine went back together fine though. It was getting late so i decided to put it all back together, put the last 2 screws in (by the microphone) and have a think. Maybe buy a new lcd as I was sure the sucker had fugged it. I picked it up this morning and powered it on and the damn thing started fine, screen & touchscreen back to normal!!!! So i guess eventually this was a tale of win, but there was soooo much fail in here it had to go in this thread. Fortunately my friend was non the wiser! Sometimes I hate being the techy friend. Didge.

I can give you the ebay seller who supplied the working replacement and am happy to provide email support .. It actually isn't that difficult but it is fiddly and needs to be performed in the right order. (And don't mess with the actual display!) Good luck!! Didge

I've ordered a few filters for my camera. Just checked ebay to confirm they have been dispatched (they have), and I've just noticed I ordered the 58mm Canon filters by mistake - should've been Olympus 58mm. What a nob!

I have a huge major skin infection of some type all over my back and arms that's driving me insane.
Can't sleep, can't sit at the computer for an extended amount of time. Arse.
Doctor's tomorrow.

Could you have developed an allergy to the washing detergent that your clothes are washed in?

Funny that I have ringworm on my arm for the first time ever, I'd never heard of it until my aunty (horse expert) told me what it was. Ah, skin infections.
