Mark, I'm pretty sure it will work on PPC processors - I read somewhere that it would be can't seem to find where.

I'd say my next Apple purchase will be Snow Leopard.

Depends if it’s an air brick or not, I suppose.

Snow Leopard, I’d imagine.

My next Mac hardware purchase will be some way off. I am keen on the ModBook range, so it may be one of those if I can justify the cost.

Oooh yes, those Modbook things are sweet. I'd completely forgotten about them until you posted it then so thanks for that. The new Modbook Pro (unibody) is due to ship soon. Yours for the small fee of $4998 . As nice as it is, I think I'll pass.

I'd be staggered if it did. Pleased, but amazed. The last PPC model was what, 3 years ago?
AFAIK, none of the developer releases so far have been PPC.

Hmm, I'd like it to be an intel mac of some variety but unless the stupid tax pays out soon I doubt it will be.
TBH my G5 still does everything I want it to so I'm not that bothered.

You're right that none of the developer seeds that have been leaked have supported PPC but it doesn't mean Apple aren't testing it internally.

Don't Apple say that a Mac has a lifespan (running the latest OS) for 7 years? The last Powermac G5s can only be about 3 years old now. I would say that PPC will be supported by Snow Leopard but there will be some things that are Intel Mac only. I'd say that Snow kitty is likely to be the last Apple OS to support PPC, if indeed, it does support PPC. If I were to predict what 10.6 would run on, I'd say any Intel or at least one of the faster G4s (if any G4 support at all) or a G5.

Anyway, we shouldn't have long to wait before we can find out.

EDIT: Enjoy the iMac, Steven :D

If they will support PPC at all, Apple may well drop support for the G4 series in Snow Leopard, leaving the last gen G5s covered.

I think it's pretty obvious 10.7 will drop PPC if 10.6 doesn't.

I get all the OS software free at work so I won't be buying it.

My last 'purchase' was the iPhone which was a free upgrade on my contract.

If I had the money I'd buy a new Macbook pro for home.

Yeess - they are rather costly. I have to weigh up the pros and cons before deciding. I hope they get a solid, critical round of reviews.

Hopefully the next iPhone for me :)

Incidentally, my neighbour brought me her iPhone to fix tonight. She dropped it on the pavement and the "Silent" switch snapped off. This is the same woman who made me set up her new computer for 10 hours and gave me a box of eggs for my trouble.

For a start, I don't think it's easily fixable. Plus, I'm not wasting any more of my time helping an unappreciative old cow.

Peter.

Just lol. A box of eggs has to be the most random present you could get for setting up a PC. I did get given a copy of Norton antivirus once for helping someone with their computer. I didn't really know how to react so I just said something like "errrm, thanks. I'm sure this will be very errrrm, useful". Needless to say, I just put it in a drawer somewhere and haven't seen it since (thankfully).

On a side note, why did it take you 10 hours to set up a PC?

Sorry, I should have explained. They run a small farm and I get a box of eggs delivered each week. She thought she would give me an extra box of eggs that week for setting up her computer.

In future, I'll tell her to get PC World's team to set it up, which costs £100.00 upwards. Are ten hours of my expertise only worth £0.80 to her?

If you met my neighbour, you would seriously understand! After I got everything working, she then wanted me to set up her printer, scanner, camera, iPhone and any other device she could think of.

Peter.
