Sorry that the news wasn't better. Did the consultant not have any suggestions about anything that could be done?

He said there's not really anything that can be done to further diagnose the problem and even if they did diagnose the problem they couldn't do anything about it anyway.
The stapes is about 3mm in length at its longest part so they can't do anything if it's fractured.
He said if it is the cochlea leaking fluid they could possibly plug the hole with a bit of fat but that wouldn't be guaranteed to work and if it did work it would only stop it getting worse it wouldn't improve anything.
He has referred me back to himself (lol) on the NHS and is going to book me in for some scheduled hearing tests to monitor the situation. If it improves then thats a good thing but if it worsens then at least we'll know about it and be able to accommodate.

Where's nanotechnology when you need it?
I'm not in any way up to date with microsurgical techniques, the medical artwork I'm doing these days is more like plastic surgery, but there are always innovations and progress so let's hope something comes up in the near future that'll help. At least it doesn't appear to be anything to do with the meningioma which is a good thing, if anything can be said to be 'good' in this situation. From what you say you were told there is a possibility of an improvement and I hope that's the case and things get better.
