Good, entertaining race, despite the dodgy TV coverage near the end.

Kobayashi really had a home field advantage. He was awesome and by far the most exciting driver to watch today.

+ 1

Kobayashi was brilliant today, he's great to watch race on one of his good days. Can you imagine what he would do in a decent front-running car?

Shame Hamilton suffered a failing gearbox - guess that means another 5-place drop at the next race. Fair play for Button trying something different, but it just didn't work out for him this time.

So, 3 races to go... I still can't call it this year. MacLaren aren't looking strong towards the end of the season, so I think it's probably one of the Red Bulls - ideally Webber if that's the case. But it's still all to play for.

I think you can change engine or gearbox as you wish between races without a penalty just not during a race weekend.

Good race imo, most enjoyable.

Yes.... in the event that neither Hamilton or Button win then I'd be quite happy to see Red Bull's number 2 driver take the championship this year :D

In order of preference for the winner of the championship for me it's...

Webber
Button
Vettel
Hamilton
Alonso

My order of preference:-

Button
Hamilton
Webber...

the list goes on, quite extensively, so I'll skip to the bottom...

Hitler
Jack the Ripper
Gary Glitter

Then..

Vettel
Alonso.

I'm sure I heard in Martin Brundle's commentary that gearboxes have to last at least 4 races, but I could have imagined it. With it only lasting one race, then I'd have thought that means another 5-place penalty at Korea. Unless, like you say, it only counts over the race weekend. Guess we'll find out in a couple of weeks.

There's a discussion on the ITV F1 forums about it, HERE - but it's still not exactly clear whether the gearbox that was changed before the race on Sunday was a new or used unit.

I think what confused me was Hamilton was due a gearbox change at the end of the Japanese GP but after problems on Fridays practice the team decided to change it early hence the 5 place grid penalty.

Thanks for clearing it up.

I don't know who said it but there was a comment at the end of the show that lead me to believe that Hamilton wouldn't get a penalty for changing gearbox in between Japan and Korea.

Korea this weekend, new circuit, new tarmac, and by the sounds of it due to the new virgin surface the times are just going to get faster and faster so it will be a case of being in the right place at the right time I would image.

Hopefully we should see an exciting F1 weekend…..

Very nice of them to wait till I get up before they start racing proper. :D

Hamilton has been going on about how he's raced in worse, now they've just gone out and he says it's much better. On the other hand, Vettel is whining like the little git he is, 'oh noes, there's lots of water still, boo hoo'.

Vettel is annoying.

Yes shame Webber was off that could have just about sealed it for him.
