Pretty poor for the end of the series IMO.

Also the TV guide showed episode 6/7. Is there a TG Special coming?

I feel like I've been robbed!

They will be back soon enough.

The British sports car feature possibly laboured the joke a bit too much, but I actually found the last 5 minutes to be very effective. The dismay on their faces clearly wasn't acting (they're not that good actors frankly) and the final shot of the cars in the disused factory was a superb piece of cinematography. I also liked the Ferrari 'review', even if I'm never going to own one. Jeff Goldblum however I thought was a bit neither here nor there.

I think this week's was always going to suffer in comparison to last week's, which wasn't only the best TG of this series, it was the best TG in about 5 years...

No, next week is a 'highlights and bloopers' episode.

Yes - a rather drab end to the series. I can really only remember 3 episodes, so kind of felt that there should have been more. Again, they ended on a low note - elegising the British motor industry. This is becoming a habit.

Is there an official date for TG's return?

TG magazine recently printed that it won't be back until early next year (scanned image posted on another website)... :|

Seems pretty normal to me. Not been finished that long - one summer series, one winter one.

I suspect that there will be a new series later this autumn. Maybe November till December?

Did anyone else spot a new series of TG started tonight on BBC2/BBC HD?

I dunno if it's a whole new series, although it's billed as that. One tonight, one on boxing day.

I read somewhere that tonight's episode is the first of a new 7 or 8 part series, and the Boxing Day episode is an extra Special Challenge one.

Loved the choice of target practice, wondered if The Stig would get a mention!

Odd thing - in the credit roll, Tiff Needell is listed as 'Emergency Stig'. Firstly you'd imagine he'd be under contract with Five and secondly, what did he actually do? Some of the 'filler' driving on the racetrack? Seems an odd thing to get a celebrity driver in, presumably at great expense, and then not actually show him at any point.

Update : aha, wikipedia says 'In the one hour 15 minute special of Top Gear on 21st December 2010, Tiff was credited as the 'Emergency Stig' for Danny Boyle'. So I guess he was giving Boyle a bit of training. Still seems odd to get a 'name' driver in to do that, when there are any number of driving tutors who would do it for less.
