Sadly, I know damn well my conscience wouldn't let me do any 'fun' stuff

Actually, no, if you deserve it...

For example, most people who had invisibility would use it to visit to spy on naked women or listen in on private conversations for fiscal gain etc.

I think if you ask a convention full of comic geeks, the answer you're going to get is whatever superpower they ended up getting would be used to 'spy on naked women'.

What I love is that, of all the super-types who can fly, are infeasibly strong, or just plain rich, you'd still have to give serious consideration to having those retractable claws over everything else

“The film will focus on early days of Superman, so there will be no links with other films. This is not a remake then. Similarly, although I still can not talk about the script, I can assure you that this new Superman will not be based on a comic book in particular.”

I've seen that in a Bats history book, Ross isn't it?

I've never known if it was a standalone drawing or part of a comic though... I'm guessing comic.

It is Alex Ross' work, yes. I don't know where it's from though. I do like his work and appreciate he's trying to ground superheroes in some sort of reality, but also agree with Frank Miller that it's a bit of a waste of time and making comic book characters look too realistic just makes them even more absurd.

Yeah, what I find is it's brilliantly striking initially, then it tends to make the characters look more like Fathers For Justice!

Have to say though, with the right script, it really works...

Stunning brushwork by the late, great Massimo Belardinelli. From Blackhawk; 2000AD Prog 151, Feb.1980. Scanned from the original artwork, which is why the speech bubble has gone semi-transparent with age. I wish I'd bought more of his artwork when I had the chance.
