http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-sussex-11582509A definite waste of public money. I am surprised that more organisations do not drop music in the work place with current economic conditions. It might be nice to go into a shopping mall with no muzak.

I've always found it strange that royalties have to be paid twice with radio. Once by the radio station broadcasting the music and then again by people at work listening to it.

You can't put a price on staff morale and its impact on productivity & loyalty.

True but staff can opt to buy it themselves. If they really want it that will be their choice.

That's one of the things I love about working in a call centre, no crap on the radio.

That's one of the nicest aspects of our local Lidl - it's oh so very quiet.
That and the foreign foods are great.

I've only had one job, from about 15 (plus working on about 50 client sites), where I could listen to music. I don't see why the police should pay for the licence, they are there to work not listen to music...
