In a lot of the French books, Tintin and Captain Haddock seem to refer to handguns they use as “Brownings”. GIven the level of detail Hergé’s studios went to, they probably ARE brownings they wield. Quite why they have been put into this drawing seems odd, unless “Browning” is to pistols as “Hoover” is to vacuum cleaners in French/Belgian circles.
