Anyone going/been to any organised events tonight? Being over here, the only thing I miss about living in England is bonfire night. Hope all those attending fires/displays have a great time.

i grew out of bonfire nights once I left my teens. Up until then, it used to be great to havs your own fireworks in the backyard and, later, it was cool to go to "proper" displays. But now I'm jus bored with them.

It's actually celebrating the burning of him. Actually, I'm surprised the Catholics don't kick up a fuss seeing as he was doing it because James I wouldn't remove the laws that had been brought in to ban them from practising their religion. So, in reality, it was a Catholic terrorist attack.

If it weren't for him we wouldn't have the Beetle or the Modern Olympics. I would argue he did more harm than good though, to put it ridiculously lightly.

Some morons hereabouts appear to be using Army Ordnance to reconstruct the battle of El Alamein. I hope the rain picks up a bit.

Went to the one at Platt Fields in Manchester tonight. Dual celebration - it's also the centenary of it opening as a public park. They pushed the boat out a bit - you know when you actually hear a firework being shot out of a mortar, it's going to make a big bang when it actually goes off. Was fun, although the drive back was a bit of a pain. Rush hour at 10PM!

Tar Barrels. Just got home. I need to sleep, I'm at work in 7 hours. I have about 12GB of images and about half a roll of B&W. We'll see what I've got tomorrow night, probably. I'm not expecting all of them to gems, but hopefully there'll be some good ones. And now... sleep.

You should go to Austria on New Year's Eve. Honestly, it looks like a fireworks safety advert gone bad. It is exciting though, in a 'will I lose my eyesight or a limb' sort of way.
