Just went in, sorry to admit, but wanted a MB/processor/ram bundle in a hurry.

Virtually no stock in the store, particularly components. Plenty of TVs on show, and boxes to shift of indifferent PCs.

A company about to go to the wall?

They're owned by the same company who own Curry's. I'm not surprised they stock the same [LIFTED]. However, what's interesting is they won't price match with each other. :?

Makes me glad to be a short drive from a Novatech retail store :D

That's awesome. I'm pretty close to Maplin but in terms of PC components, they're not great either. Even my not-even-slightly-tech-savvy dad knows that PCworld and PCs are not a good combination.

Depends if it’s an air brick or not, I suppose.

Yeah I can place the order online (with Quidco....sweeeeet!) then pick it up an hour or so later from the shop, online prices + no delivery or wait = win :D

If PC World is damn expensive for stuff (although they have the odd deal for random older items), Maplin's pricing is frankly, disgusting, they deserve to go to wall more than PC World, the prices they charge ! Its not like most punters have a choice, as they usually don't know any better.

As posted in one of the hardware threads.

I phoned Maplin looking for a 4GB kit (2x2GB) of 667MHz laptop RAM. After telling me that laptops couldn't take 4GB of RAM the guy told me the sticks would be £49.99 each.

I bought a kit online for £38.99.
