I just found the paper invoice I received with my first ever Apple Mac purchase. (8+0 A Titanium PowerBook G4, 500Mhz, 1GB RAM, 30GB hard drive with Bluetooth and AirPort. Total cost in July of 2001? £3,862.00! OMJF.

I don't think I still have the invoice, but my first Mac was a PowerMac 6100/60, with an Apple monitor, keyboard and mouse (keyboard was extra, back then!) cost just over £1600. My most expensive Mac was a PowerBook G3 400MHz Wall Street, which was nearly £3k, if I recall correctly. Looking back, most of the Macs I've bought have been around the £1700 mark, but increasing in power and functionality each time.

I think my first Mac, the LC 630 DOS Compatible, with the TV tuner card, cost about the £1700 mark as well. Had a 15" display with it.

Amazing specs for the time Mark, did you spec it up as high as it would go?

My first Mac was £650. A 1.83GHz core duo MacBook with 512mb. I've since upgraded it to 2GB of RAM and 200GB HDD.

Maybe it's a bit harsh to blame the MacBook. At the moment, I'm having problems with my battery charger, camera, dishwasher, DVD player, games console, kettle, keyboard, lamp, MacBook, microwave, PC, printer, router, scanner, shaver, speakers, television, toaster, web camera. That's just to name a few! Peter.

Seems you have a way with technology Peter My first Mac was a MacBook, bought two days after release it cost me 925(ish) pounds for a 2GHz Core Duo, 1GB RAM and a 60GB hard drive. Since then the Hard drive has died and I upgraded to 80GB, and have upped the RAM to 2GB...

My family's first Mac must've been an iMac G3. I've no idea what sort of spec it was.
