Also, the lack of screen wipers and lights bothers me.

That image looks like a CG mock-up to me, so not a final product.

Actually here are some pictures of it in action.

Agree about the 'bars, though they don't seem to be too bad when in use. Ta for the link - looks like you just plant your feet on the floor either side of the bodywork, such as it is...

Not sure the bodywork would give you much protection from the elements - on a day like today you'd still get absolutely soaked, though I suppose you wouldn't end up with that grey stripe down the back of your jacket...

It looks like a recumbent bike with a shell around it. If it was an electric trike then that might be might better.

That’s what the C5 was.

Yes but I am thinking of a electric trike with top speeds above 60mph, not 12 mph.

You would need a license and insurance for that. Sinclair’s electric vehicles have always been slow for that reason.

I think I prefer the look of the original C5 over the X-1. I think the more you 'encase' the driver, the more it looks like some kind of ridiculous car.

The sad thing is, I'm sure there's a huge world market for something almost but not exactly quite unlike that.

+1.

I can see what the objective is but I think the final product isn't particularly pretty. It's nice to have something that I can nip to the shops in, buy a pizza and some coke and then nip back home.

I’ve been banned from thinking about owning a reconditioned C5. Bah!
