Looks a bit meh. Bit-tech review5 hours gameplay on single player, and they wanted to charge £55 for it?

As mentioned elsewhere, so far the campaign's buggy as hell for me (PS3) I'll do a mini review once I've completed it probably, and I'll have to see what the MP's like...

There's a hidden mini game in it that looks quite cool.
On the menu screen when you are strapped to the chair. Look down and bash the trigger buttons until you escpae from the chair. Look around the room for a computer with what looks like a command prompt on it. Type in DOA and press enter (on screen keyboard). This will launch a top down 3D zombie shooter.
Type ZORK for an old style text adventure game.

£55 is steep for a few hours of single player but as I expected COD is increasingly becomming more about the multi player. Still havent bought it though.

Didn't know about this, ta muchly Finished the main game last night, took me about 6-7 hours in regular mode I reckon. I'm not actually sure you'd want it any longer sometimes, cos the plot can get convoluted as it is with the CoD games... I'll maybe mess about with the other modes later tonight

CoD: Black Ops problems - Treyarch responds"Every game has bugs; it's a reality of gaming. And the bigger the game, the more likely you will find bugs that would never even come to light in less popular titles." That's what Activision blogger Dan Amrich had to say yesterday, when he asked players to alert the publisher to any bugs, software problems or online exploits they spotted in Call of Duty: Black Ops. Players responded here, and here, and here, and here. Now developer Treyarch has issued a strongly worded comment, specifically tackling the subject of glitchers. "This is going to be my one and only statement on this topic, so pay attention," wrote multiplayer design director David 'Vahn' Vonderhaar on the game's forums. "I got Twitbombed today from dozens of people the same 2 links. Some are people using old dashboards or old versions of the game. Others are claiming victory on old dev builds that don't even connect to the version of Xbox Live that you use. Others are reproducible issues that we will hotfix or patch just like we said we would. In essence, we likely know more about it than you do from watching a video on Vimeo or YouTube. "What many of these people want is to be Internet nerd famous. I'm not going to make them famous and you shouldn't either. Internet hysteria from normal people is exactly what they want and that's how many people reacted today. You gave them exactly what they want. "Given the opportunity, I'd personally wield the ban hammer for anyone who thinks he is clever by abusing any glitches. Good think I don't have the opportunity that often and we actually have a constructive, measured, and well-managed live ops team. "We said we would support the game. We are going to support it. "I've gone out of my way using my own limited, personal time to try and get to know about 8000 (and growing) as best I can. The last thing I want is for you to think that because I don't talk about it ... that we don't know or care about it. We didn't spend 2 years of our lives to toss it all in the trash in one day. "I thank all of you who sent in polite, constructive messages without the hysterics. So here is my one and only public statement about it. "I'm not going to talk about it publicly. We are disinterested in making mini-celebrities out of douche-bags. You better think twice before you glitch. You never know who in your game doesn't like glitchers who reports you and saves the game in their File Share and tells us about it. "Our forum admins and VIPs along with JD_2020 (Community Manager) will be managing the communication directly." There you go. You have been warned. http://www.computerandvideogames.com/ar ... ?id=274885I can see a lot of sense in what he's saying there, but he just comes across like an absolute dick for the most part. They might have spent two years on it, but too much time couldn't have been spent on testing I know that much - shooting someone point blank in the chest with a Colt Python and it having no effect? How about a clean headshot that sees the target fall to the ground before getting back up again?

CoD: Black Ops PS3 fixes inboundTreyarch's to release a series of updates for the PS3 version of Call of Duty: Black Ops aimed at fixing various issues affecting the game. Community boss Josh Olin wrote over on the developer's forums: "Hey PS3 gamers, we are listening to you and we've been busy working on updates based on feedback from the community. "We have already deployed a number of updates, and there will be many more to come. Stay tuned right here for all the latest info." Here are the details of what's been sorted already and what's in the works: Live fixes - Villa: User can clip into rock at west edge of grid zone B2 and see through to the other side - Crisis: User can clip into LVT between grid zone A3 and B3 and see through to the other side - User can get an infinite number of 'Sam Turret', 'Care Package' and 'Sentry Gun' killstreaks (commonly referred to as the "care package glitch") - Radar sweep when there are only 2 players left in One in the Chamber will stop functioning if the 2 players have multiple lives when the sweep starts - Crash when viewing content (films, clips, etc) in the Community & Recent Games menu - Users' rank and stats can get wiped under very specific conditions - Online number counts were not updating properly; these are now reporting exact online numbers - Parties getting disbanded when host did not find a match quickly In progress - Improved matchmaking to find matches faster - Improved match and host selection; will result in much better networking conditions for all games (a.k.a., decreased lag) - Weekly and Monthly leaderboards stats reporting incorrectly for kills, deaths and assists (All Time leaderboard not affected by this) - Additional improvements to party system A PC patch for the game was also just released to combat lag and other issues with the game. Yesterday, Activision said Black Ops had become "the biggest entertainment launch ever", selling 5.6 million copies and generating $360 million across the US and UK on day one. http://www.computerandvideogames.com/ar ... ?id=275349You might wanna try patching up the campaign mode, but then you've got the bulk of your money anyway

I've held off posting my review immediately.
My overview is the game has the potential to be immense but there are too many flaws that prevent it from being enjoyable.
The campaign mode so far - vague plotline. Just shooting everywhere - no real tactics or anything. I expected better after MW2.
The multiplayer mode - I love the maps, I love the weapons, I love the credits system, the powerups, the customisability. But all this is overshadowed by the fact that the gameplay is slow and jerky. The movement isn't sharp and the graphics aren't as crisp as on MW2. I don't know if this is because the maps are too big, or whether the recording system creates the lag. The problems are further compounded by the fact that the multiplayer hosting/matching is utter pants. I've spent around 25% of the time waiting for the host to connect, waiting for another host, waiting for friends to join my party, waiting for me to join them, waiting for the system to let me back in after kicking me out, letting my friends in, etc etc ad infinitum. I've played over 50 multiplayer games and only twice have I played a game where I've been with my party friends at the same time without being kicked out. And those two times, the lag problems caused havoc.
The MP mode needs an overhaul in terms of party/friends/hosts/matching - otherwise it's just frustrating and sad.

+1 I didn't miss COD5, I won't miss this. I'd like your thoughts on that, once you've had a play with it, if you don't mind.

+1 to all that having been playing the MP lately, though I'd say the story is a damn sight better (and more believable) than MW2's load of drivel...
