Something a little more classical/sophisticated/boring (take your pick) today...

The HD box has arrived but I haven't had the chance to set it up. Should be on tomorrow, we'll see.

Disappointing; she looks like an middle-aged guest at a wedding in that 2nd picture.

Yeah did they replace the wardrobe woman because the last few dresses have been frankly rubbish. I'm not Gok Wan but that's just not flatterring or elegant at all darling.

Welcome to the HD club!

This is for the computer, I already have Sky HD in the living room :).

However - disaster - and a bit of a facepalm moment, to be honest. I set the box up, tuned it in and found a problem. A bit of a further google and it turns out that while Channel 4 HD is available on Sky HD, Virgin HD and Freeview HD, it's not available on Freesat HD, which is what the box is. So No HD pics, until they decide they want to make C4HD unencrypted or I come up with another solution. I thought we were beyond this kind of technological tomfoolery. Bah.

There's a Freeview HD? When did that happen?

It's 'happening' now - essentially, you get Freeview HD when they switch off your analogue transmission. We've had it in this bit of the country since last summer but - because the UK decided to use a different transmission standard for HD terrestrial TV to pretty much the rest of the world - there are currently no freeview HD compatible USB sticks for PCs. There are a few set top boxes and PVRs though.

Quite why C4HD isn't on Freesat I have no idea (and googling doesn't present a reasonable reason) - but it's bloody irritating.

She can be my Christmas present any time of the year.
