Seems like overkill to me.

It's deliberate since the car won't get washed until February so four layers IMO should be adequate. A bit peeved since I never got to do the rubber and plastic trim.

On the Downs Road, yesterday afternoon.

Thanks to an 11 degree increase in temp and constant rain over the last 24 hours, all the snow has gone. 8-)

I don't mind snow so much but this morning my car is almost literally caked in ice. There's a solid layer of ice that covers the entire surface. Scraping it hasn't done much good and any de-icer I put on the windscreen seems to just turn to slush. Even the doors are iced shut, so I can't get in it to start the engine to warm it up at all.

I'm basically stuck. It takes me a good two hours to get to work by public transport so I've decide not to bother today. I'll go in that way tomorrow - early start, joy - and the BBC web site seems to suggest a thaw arriving tomorrow/wednesday, so here's hoping...

That'll be from the fog then. My car was iced up too but managed to de-ice and get to work OK.

Cover the windscreen with an old towle / sheet when you get home (after de-icing it) that way at least the front screen will be OK

I don't think he wants to. That will mean he has to go to work ;)

I like your thinking. However I've told them I'll make it in one way or the other. Might try the towel trick - don't usually do it as I park on the street but I can't see many people being out tonight...

Despite the sun doing its best to ruin things, we've still got a decent amount of snow. It's really cold outside so nothing much is going to change overnight.

All of our snow has gone :( Guess that's what I get for living next to the sea...
We now just have masses of ice on the roads and pavements...

Thankfully the snow is gone here in Northampton, but we had freezing fog and icy roads.

I've been having real problems getting into the car because the lock ices up. Pro Tip: lock deicer is not helpful if it's in the glove box and you're outside in the cold!!

The slush froze up over night and the roads are very slippery this morning, add to that freezing fog and I am really looking forward to the drive to work today... Not! :(

Due to get more snow on Wednesday or Thursday.
