Far from it. If it were cost effective then yes they would want it. If each person cured could get back to work and work for another twenty years even if they did not repay the government back in taxes to cover the treatment they would have spent enough to keep others employed, and paying taxes.

Well, the way I see it you'll have three choices..

1) Get the treatment, be cured of AIDS, possibly catch chicken pox again some time.
2) Not get the treatment, spend the rest of your life on a cocktail of ARV drugs to suppress the effects of AIDS that have nasty side effects.
3) Not get the treatment, not take the drugs, probably die in a couple of years due to AIDS induced pneumonia.

I dunno about you....

Yes but after you are cured you can be immunised against most of the diseases anyway.
