Corner shops is perhaps too far, but pharmacies (and only sold by the pharmacist) would be fair game, no?

"The first one's free, and when you want some more you come back to me?" One of my customers is a chain of pharmacists and they already supply methadone, presumably on prescription. I suppose it's a relatively small step to supply the "real thing" OTC, but I'm not sure what the NIMBYs would think about it. Actually, I'm pretty sure they wouldn't like it.

Yes, of course, just by the pear drops. Honestly, don't talk like a twat, you're better than that JJ.

I refer you to the question I asked earlier: You stated "Decriminalise it all, tax it all, regulate it all, make funds gained available to get off drugs if they so wish." but made no attempt to actually answer the rather important question of "how?"

Do them one at a time. Decriminalise cannabis first and allow people to grow up to 4 non skunk plants for personal use and wipe criminal records if there are only cannabis offences on their record. The the same for heroin from clinics. Each drug will need different solutions.

You have to separate them into at least two categories.
On the one hand there are the pleasurable drugs that may not be recommended, but are regularly taken by large numbers of people who are not addicts (ecstasy, acid, speed, cannabis, and arguably cocaine too). The purpose of legalising these drugs is to gain control of the market in them, limiting the proceeds to criminal gangs, ensuring quality and so on. They should probably be sold on licensed premises such as pubs and clubs.
There is another class of drugs which are taken for fun only on a much smaller scale. The majority of people who consume crack, heroin, that stuff that rednecks love which makes them screw their sisters and lose all their teeth. The purpose of legalising these is to undermine the economic basis of the industry that supplies them. Unlike the other drugs above, people would willingly go and live in a prison to get their hands on a guaranteed supply of heroin, you wouldn't even have to close the doors.
It makes perfect sense for the government to purchase enough heroin to feed the habits of all our junkies direct from the Taliban, and then to give it away on the NHS. The reduction in muggings and burglaries alone would easily justify the cost, the junkies would be much happier and healthier too. The only losers would middle aged truck drivers who would both lose a valuable source of income, and would be hard pressed to find toothless crones to perform acts of oral sex in car parks.
