+1.

The internets suck these days.

Look at it like today's music industry; the majority of the output is a load of sh1t, but there are some absolute diamonds in said sh1t ;)

I still get funny looks at work about the time I phoned Yahoo!

Seriously, before the menu options you get this American woman singing "Yahoo" and you can't help but wet yourself ;)

*Growl*

It's extremely irritating to be treated like a clueless idiot, just because you happen to be a female, when trying to get help with some work on a car.

I have called 3 places today asking two questions:
1. Do you stock sump plug washers for the gearbox plug on a Classic Saab 900 (1992)?
2. Is there a special tool I need to connect an open-link camshaft chain after I have replaced the old one?

Quite simple questions really. The first bloke I spoke to, at the place where I ordered the flippin' chain seemed incredulous that I could be asking these questions, let alone understand any answer he was likely to give. It turned out he didn't know the answer to either question since he chose to spend 10 minutes explaining to me what the difference was between open (or "split") link chain and closed chain. I clearly already knew the difference since the order he had right in front of him showed that I had already ordered an open link chain!!

The second guy wasn't quite as offensive, but just as lacking in knowledge, so I gave up and spoke to a very nice man at the Saab dealership in Leamington, He realised quickly that I do know what I'm talking about, and although their parts guy is away until next week, he said he'd have the service foreman give me a call this afternoon.

I may end up paying a bit more for some tiny little round bits of copper, but for the vast improvement in service It'll be worth it!!

I am what I am, I am only me and no-one else. I shall not change to please you. I shall live by my own rules, and try to be as happy as possible. You get one chance at life, so live it. Do not regret.
We are all equal. Today is a new day, and so shall tomorrow be. So wake with a clear view. This. is. Life.

Just wanted to get that off my chest. ;)

At work we have ID badges (about the size of a credit card), they have two RFID tags in them, one allows access through doors (if we have correct permissions) and the other links to a database containing how much money we have 'on' the card (it's a cashless society here, everything is paid for by these cards), they also have a chip in them which allows you to pop it in your Sun Ray and continue your session (it switches to the login screen when you pull it out, but it doesn't log you off).

My boss forgot his badge and his has a general access one, but that won't get him in the lab, so he's borrowed mine...Which means I can't access my session
I'm now on a non-card session, but because Firefox, etc are still running, I can't open them up (without quitting the other ones, which I can do, but really don't want to). So, I wandered what other browsers I had on here, mozilla was the only one, but some dependancy was missin...So I'm streaming an instance of mozilla (version 1.7) from an older server, to the server I'm using to surf the web while my boss is doing some work...

Appologies for my poor spelling, no spell checker in Mozilla

Sucky - having a Seagate 200GB drive going AWOL under warranty.
Groovy - having Seagate send a 250GB drive back.

I was expecting a Special Delivery today, so I was listening out for the door all morning. I heard my post fall onto the doormat with one of the "Sorry we missed you" cards.

I've never run so quickly out of the door chasing the postman! It was raining and I never had my shoes on :(

Peter.
