I dunno if it's a whole new series, although it's billed as that. One tonight, one on boxing day.

I read somewhere that tonight's episode is the first of a new 7 or 8 part series, and the Boxing Day episode is an extra Special Challenge one.

Looks like they are continuing with the episode numbers from earlier in the year.

I really got caught out by last nights program. I had seen one advert, but it hadn't registered when the first of the two Christmas shows was.

It does appear to be the start of a new series, although both of my TVs showed it as 7/8 programs. At the beginning of the program they showed the highlights of this new series including the new V8 Atom and the Knight XV. Clicky

For some reason Sky + had this listed as a repeat.

AFAIK from the listing in the Radio Times and what was said on the show last night this was the first episode in the new series.

I thought the trailing had been unusually discreet.

Actuall saw it was on and assumed it was a repeat. Can't really get my head around the nearly Christmas thing.

Does than help? I actually had BBC2 on but muted, I just happened to glance up and the titles were running, so I didn't really miss any of it.
I'm not a big Top Gear fan (by any stretch of the imagination) but I did really enjoy this one.

I have to say, the little 'preview clip' they always do at the start of a series is always very very well made.

That's why I shouldn't watch it, I might be able to get over the childish fear of missing something really good in amongst the overdone arguments and pratfalls :(

I thought the most interesting bit of last night's ep. was Mr Boyle, though I did laugh at Clarkson's chosen car 'advantage' in the (scroll over for potential spoiler) drive-by bit :)

What, the Mr Boyle bit? There's a couple of Boyles in showbusiness ;)

EDIT - Just seen an earlier post mentioning Mr Boyle, post notifications sometimes don't work the best...

The Porsche that Richard Hammond was driving wasn't.

Too right. I don't care if it's fast. It looks like a massively scaled up dinky car and the interior appeared to be made of scaffolding. Bloody good track car but you'd have to live in one of those chalets next to a race track to justify it.
