After a frustrating time grocery shopping*, I've returned home. Seeing as I've got man-flu, I decided to treat myself and bought some doughnuts. Was torn between Rolo doughnuts, asda's jam doughnuts, their mini-donuts, smarties doughnuts and some simpson doughnuts. I went for the latter. Wished I hadn't as they're very bready and hard - would call them a day old. The only nice bit is the pink icing with sprinkles. I swear, once you've had a Krispy Kreme doughnut, all others fade in comparison.
What do you treat yourself to when you've been unwell/done really well in something/got through or in a rough time socially or at work? Other than booze I mean.
* I like to do my shopping as quick as possible, usually in 20-25 mins, with half that time waiting in line at the checkout (personal best for weekly shop is 10 mins in and out). Throughout the entire time, some silly cow and her mother and their two kids in giant twin pushchairs kept blocking me in/out of aisles and shelves I needed to reach. Was tempted to do a hit'n'run with my shopping trolley. Silly slags.

Foody-wise it's usually something like Mr Kiplings Lemon Slices / Malt Loaf / Tescos Cream Scones with Raspberry Jam.
It sorta depends what mood I'm in, sometimes I treat myself to things as a reward that I wouldn't ordinarily buy for myself, some fancy bath smelly things from Lush or an item of clothing. Not much of my reward system is based around food, it's more of a "feeling sorry for myself" response, when I'm ill or have had a really bad day.

Tesco donuts aren't bad...Especially when you get 10 for 1 pound! Otherwise it's something else which might be on offer, cake or biscuits usually, though occasionally it might be a duck and hoi-sin wrap...

Nothing. If I'm unwell I just don't feel like eating.

Pie, obviously. Pork Pie to be specific.
I do get the jam 10 doughnuts for £1 sometimes, but they go stale so fast it's impossible to eat them all while they're still tasty. I only like the jam ones. I used to take them into the office and share them, which was better.
Although, my last "treat" was actually a bag of Tesco economy assorted mints. They were really nice, and lasted about 2 months. I have just one left. It's a humbug.
Of course, if we're allowed to include drink then my favourite treat is a good single malt. It also temporarily cures most ailments.

I'm partial to apple & cinnamon doughnuts personally. Although my standard comfort food is Rachel's rice pudding. Jon

Since I moved abroad the list has been long: bacon; pork pies, in fact pie of any kind; pickle; British beer; curry; Dr Pepper; Cornish pasties; it goes on…
But I guess if we moved back to the UK, the list would be equally long.
When sick I crave tea, toast (lots of butter) and lying down in front of TV.

They used to do a smarties chocolate cake - yum. It was absolutely delish - slabs of chocolate covering a moist choc cake and sprinkled with smarties..... I bought the occasional one... Discontinued now Al
