Hi guys!
Okay so my friend at work is having a few problems with her computer.
She's told me that it's restarting at the Welcome screen.
So I thought rather than me go out of my way, I could give her a few instructions to do a system restore. Because I have no idea what she was doing on it before this started to happen.
She said, that when I told her to open it into Safe Mode the screen was rolling up with a load of jibberish.
Now I translated that as registry files scrolling.
But she says it freezes?
Help on this one. I'd rather give her instructions, that have to go down there. Lol

What operating system is it? If it's XP, I would start by booting from the CD and repairing the operating system that way.
Peter.

I asked about that, but she said she don't have the XP disc.

Any XP disc should do the trick. She may need to change the product key to hers after it, but that can be done easily. Is there any way she could borrow somebody else's disc? Peter.

Yeah. She could borrow mine. But that would mean I'd have to go home and get my tricks box. And that was the point. I'm too lazy!

It has to be fixed tonight. And I don't want to go down there.
So, kinda just asking people if they know of some simple ways it could be fixed, I could tell her what to do.

Is there not a local PC World she could take it to? Ok, sorry, etc... Try the safe mode route again, and ask her what the last line of text on the screen is. That should give you an idea of where to start looking. Let us know what it says and we'll have another look.

That's a good point I wanted to make. On my computer, the Safe Mode loading thing can freeze for about a minute, so tell her to leave it for a while to see if it loads properly. Peter.
