I'm really pleased with the Logitech GT wheel and especially the Wheel Stand Pro which is an amazing but simple devise so I can only sit back in admiration at your setup veato with the G27. Can I ask what games support the G27 for the gate gear change and clutch pedal etc?

I totally agree with you review by the way, GT5 feels right played with a wheel and pedals as does F1 but when I tried it on Racing Driver ‘GRID’ which I have canned off and online using the PS3 controller it was terrible. I couldn’t complete a lap without spinning off etc and I kept with it for half an hour but it didn’t get any better.

I've been meaning to ask you about F1 as I'm tempted but heard it's bug-laden. Was maybe thinking of holding off for F1 2011. What do you think?

To be honest I dont think the DFGT is such a step down from the G27 in GT5. Your wheel is a) officially supported, b) has the adjustment dial on wheel, c) can remap buttons and d) still has the full 900 degree turning. I miss out on the support but I guess the pedals are nicer and the wheel is (supposedly) quieter. The G27 is a luxury for me TBH but with xmas and bday so close together I managed to fiddle one ;)

As for the clutch and H gate I only have GT5 to use it on  But I can report both work fine. I dont use the clutch but depending on the car I'm in I switch between that and flappy paddles just to make it a bit more realistic.

Do you use the in car view by the way? Now I;ve got a proper setup I'm only using in car + manual gears.

Also in steering options did you set it to standard, pro or sim? I set it to pro but for now have left ABS and stuff default.

I really like F1 2010 and don’t really have a problem with it’s game play even when it was first launched but the update did sort out a few niggling issues. I have a couple of races left in my first season but the main problem I have with F1 is time, and you need plenty of it to get good, get to know the tracks and be compensative (although I have gone in on a slightly higher setting straight from the off)

I also use the in-car view on GT5 but the one without any visuals of the interior, I tried having the outside car view like I play Grid but with the wheel the feel is all wrong. F1 I use the Air intake box view which is positioned just above the driver helmet but if you sit inside the car you need to know the track well because the view is very limited.

In GT5 I think I have the setting on standard still, to honest I'm still working my way through all the game and it's options  , got myself on level 14 so far but haven’t played since new years day..... Going to try and get onto it tonight with any luck

Erm.... can anyone do the Top Gear challenge in the Elise? For a car which is fames for handling it spends the majority of it's time sideways throwing me off the track!

Bit racy aren’t they..... I found it a lot easier with the manual gearbox but late braking is a nightmare so had to do most of the work once in the corner, out of corners and down the straights. [LIFTED] great fun with the force feedback wheel when you spin out.....

This is what I've come to realise:

(using a wheel, simulation setting and driving aids low or off)

1) Elise on the Top Gear test is impossible to drive unless I turn on Active Steering, I normally have it off. It's still tricky but drivable
2) Some rear drive powerful cars are next to impossible unless I turn ASM on. You can be careful and make it round but not nearly fast enough to compete
3) Dirt/Rally needs traction control, ASM and everything else turned off (I wondered why I couldnt slide lol)

Apart form that I'm getting on ok with it. Got I-A license now and have finished beginner races. It's a little too easy at the minute though as once I tune my car a little a tend to be a lot faster than the AI cars. I need to find a balance so its more challening and I'm not easily out in front.

Oh, and some of the cars I've won are crap!Schwimmwagen, Dihatsu Midget, 2CV... come on!

I remember Clarkson saying something like, 'French rioters were seen with tin cans full of petrol. Or 2cvs as they're otherwise known.'

Necro-thread.... update!

Spec 2.0 update live today. G25/27 support (FINALLY!) :D

CVG wrote:
Simplified interior view added to all standard cars.
User control of the weather change feature.
Added a setting sheet feature allowing you to save multiple car settings.
Spec 2.0 opening movie.
Improved UI usability and response.
Replay rewind and fast forward.
Ability to save during a race
Online Lounge Expansion (Ability to narrow down car types via search, shuffle races).
Expansion of the B-Spec remote race you can play from GT.com (a graph display now shows changes in race rankings.).
Expanded Photo travel features. You can now take photo's of cars together with your avatar.
Added a "NASCAR Pit Scene" stage to Photo Travel
Added eleven 2011 model NASCAR cars.
Added the Nissan GT-R N24 Schulze Motorsport.
Improved physics and AI.
Support for the Logitec G25/G27 Steering wheel.

I think the mid-race saving is needed for endurance races and wonder why it was never included to begin with?

In addition to the update a DLC has been released with two new tracks, paint colours, cars, etc which can be bought individually or as a better value single pack.
