Morning all.

On the onsite feed at work today, so should avoid the worst of manic Monday. This is a good thing.

In other news, the Wench has finally seen the speakers I'd set my heart on and went positively [LIFTED] at the possibility of having them in the house. Time to consider other options I feel.

A bit harsh to get rid of the wench over some speakers :D

Seriously though, what's wrong with the speakers?

Are they mahoosive or something?

Yeah, they are about 70cm wide and 1m high and look 'like tombstones' to quote the Wench. They aren't exactly what I would call 'pretty':

Dude, I'm thick when it comes to women and even I could have predicted that one.

They look like they should have the word "AIDS" painted on the front.

Might try these instead and see what she thinks:

I should point out that she has a somewhat 'quirky' taste, so it was by no means a write-off from the start. She did marry me of all people after all ;).

It doesn't come across in the photo, but that's actually a leather front on the unit.

Those swanky italians ;)

They are Opera Grand Callas for those that care.

Are they proper wood?
Proper speakers should be constructed of proper wood.

That's the thing about 'improper wood', It can be very inconvenient.

Yeah, proper material is definitely the right phrase. Living Voice make some staggering speakers with a chip-board enclosure for example.

The Operas are various thicknesses of MDF for the structure, and then veneered on the outside to make them look nice.
