Sky Sports presenters Andy Gray and Richard Keys were at the centre of a sexism row last night after they questioned whether a female linesman knew the offside rule during a Premier League football match.

Is this the end of "Andy I told you so Gray"?
Let's hope he follows Roy Atkinson and he disappears forever, I can't stand him!!

What a pair of idiots.

I agree though - Andy Gray really irritates me. My favourite charachter on Sky Sports at the moment is Jamie Redknapp. :)

Would this be the same Andy who quite possibly got his phone hacked by the NOTW? I wonder what made them think he was worthy of being hacked if so...

Might he have Hayley McQueen's number on it? I'd imagine that would be quite sought after :).

Maybe Andy's base instincts took over after working with her

1. IIRC she actually got the offside decision spot on
2. Gray is a twat. Never liked him. But then he comes across as being very anti-Spurs IMO

Regardless of which teams he may have preference for or against, he's a pretty awful pundit. If he got the sack I wouldn't at all miss him.

Although.. I have to say I don't think he should. So it turns out he's very old school in his views on the participation of women in his chosen sport. So? Is having an opinion that's not very nice suddenly a sacking offense? Are we becoming so utterly intolerant as a society that we can't say "look, you're wrong, don't be such an idiot" but instead have to publicly pillory and ostracise somebody for something they said? I really don't go for the whole 'political correctness gone mad' thing but I really don't think what he's done counts as gross misconduct given he didn't broadcast it intentionally to the nation. if he'd gone off on a sweary tirade on camera because the assistant ref got a decision wrong then fair enough but that wasn't what happened.

It rather strikes me someone at Sky has a grudge against Gray and leaked this to try and embarrass/inconvenience him. That seems to me a very churlilsh and spiteful act and the media reaction seems to me to only endorse churlishness and spite.

Aside from the obvious point that large parts of the media seem perfectly happy to espouse utterly sexist and derogatory views, as long as men are the subject of the ridicule.

Jon

Being a linesman/woman/person, they would have to know.

Yes his comments were sexist and what he said about Karen Brady was clearly sexist. Plonker.

I see you've arrived in the sunny resort. I hope your liking the funky orange clothes. ;)

Back on topic.
Basically what Jonbwfc said.
It seems we have entered an era where by an opinion expressed privately can be used in a public forum.
It really does smack of someone in the sky team deliberatly leaking the tape.

Loving the outfit. 8-)

My attitude is that if you are not willing for it to be published don't say it. These two commentators would have known that there was a mic in the area.
