kinda stuck on what to do here, my workplace is the only place that sells cherry vimto and I love the stuff, so on day off I enter work and see if theres cherry vimto and boss offers me one as I request, I pull out my £1 and hes like "no no no, free" then I say "nvm" as if I accept it free then it will seem that I just come into the workplace just to get free food and drink etc on a non working day? It will sound very biased but my workplace has the best cheeseburgers I have ever had, so good that ive banned myself from mcdonalds and burger king so as I crave these burgers often id like one on certain days but I cant because every time the boss tried to give it to me for free and wont let me pay for it, what to do?

You've offered to pay for the food and drink, but it has been refused.
If you feel strongly about it, let the boss know that you really want to pay for the goods, perhaps that you feel uncomfortable about being allowed free goods as you work there, and suggest you will set aside money to pay for it at some stage come what may.

The words "gifthorse" and "mouth" spring to mind.
Accept the gift of a free drink. Thank him for it "Are, you sure? Thanks very much!" etc...
But then don't go in expecting it next time. If you feel uncormfortable if he offers it for free next time then tell him something like "I really don't mind paying" (or something and offer him the money anyway).
That way he knows you're not trying to rip him off.

Offering to pay is always good. If he offers a freebie again, accept graciously, but make it a rule that next time you insist on paying. Be polite, but as others have said, tell them that you’d feel more happy to pay than to accept freebies on your time off.
It is possible that your employer values you, and this is a token of that appreciation.

Can't you just stock up on the stuff then on your day off you dont need to go there to get your 'fix'?

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Perhaps bratty was only talking about normal people. Edit - Although it wouldn't surprise me if he had a different balaclava for every day of the week.

Eh? So it went from you paying to them giving you a free drink and paying you? Nice work.
