Motorola has released a 15-second snippet of an advert for its upcoming Xoom tablet, a parody rip-off homage take-off send-up of Apple's iconic 1984 ad.

Quote:
Friday's come-on comes one day after Motorola released a one-minute YouTube teaser that opens with an image of the earth, followed by a countdown to 1984 that expands to the snappy one-liner "2011 looks a lot like 1984."

So Motorola recognises Apple and the iPhone as the defacto hardware to best in 2011, despite having a tiny proportion of the handset market? That's … interesting.
Also "And the Android Honeycomb operating system that will power the Xoom is provided by Google, a company whose idea of freedom is to track your movements around the web in order to better sell ads based on your online peregrinations.".

If you analyse the background it is not such a great ad. It might make the Apple users appear to be more important than they really are.

As opposed to Apple "you can do whatever you like with your device, provided we say you can".

Exactly.
This is a non story.
Neither one is better or worse than the other. Each has their pros and each has their cons.
*shrug*

Exactly. I do wish Apple were a bit more relaxed with their policies though.
