clickyPortsmouth succumb to lure of the Arabian pot of gold. After a dalliance with a Serbian then a Russian it looks like Portsmouth FC has found a new owner Dr Sulaiman Al-Fahim. On a personal front this is good as it should ensure the survival of Portsmouth. On the other hand is this a case of making the premiership even more of the haves and have nots!!! Anyway WWWWOOOOOOOHOOO!!!

Merged topics. Firstly so the non football fans don't moan. Secondly because I've never merged topics before and I wanted to see how it works. - Blue

The person above used to write in red until I made a comment about it, and has now started using blue. oops, wrong thread. Should be interesting for Portsmouth. Let's hope the new owner actually takes an interest in making them the best club they can be.

What they'll try to do is exactly what the people at City have done - try to throw money at marquee players who actually have no interest in siging for anyone other than the top 4/6 and are being paid enough money where they are anyway. If Portsmouth have someone behind the scenes who can impress on the new owners that nobody worth over £20M is going to come to Portsmouth regardless of what wages they are offered and it's much better to revamp the team by buying 8 £10m players than 2 £40m players and that actually spending half that money on a new ground with 10,00 more seats would be a much much better idea than throwing money at players who are actually a depreciating asset anyway. That would be an outbreak of good sense that English football could very well do with. Jon

assuming Peter Storrie remains and Dr Al-Fahim listens to him, then there is a good chance that is what will happen. Dr Al-Fahims money should get the North Harbour development going, which would help attract bigger names. At the moment its keeping players like johnson, kranjkar and bel hadj at the club and with a new owner with money and ambition (tempered, sensible ambition hopefully) they will stay.

I'm glad this story has come up, it's somewhat steering peoples attention away from Uniteds loss last night. I've only recieved the one text from a Gunners fan this morning.

I bought a Barca shirt as a souvenir when I visited the city last year - and by the way, for all the talk about them being a side of a different class, I watched a game in the CL group stage against... god one of the scandavians and they played bloody awfully, only to be rescued by a rather lucky Messi goal - I may well wear it to work tomorrow . I got a nifty hoody when I went to see them last year (the home game against Shalka). Sometimes its a toss up on who to annoy the local Southampton fans with my Portsmouth tops or the hordes of Man U fans... this week has been great for Football

That'll be him off then. Oh well, we'll be laughing with 80 mil in the bank. Might write a little report on my Wembley trip in here later, so putting this to remind myself!
