http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/8308995 ... jamas.html | | | | Quote: Office workers have long suspected that colleagues who said they were "working for home" were in fact sitting on their sofas, drinking tea and watching Countdown.
And now, it would appear, their suspicions have been proved correct. A survey has discovered that many of those that work from home do so in their pyjamas, or even from the bathroom, pub or local café. Working from bed is not, however, necessarily the refuge of shirkers. It has a long illustrious history, stretching back to Tudor times when state business was often conducted from the royal bedchamber. Winston Churchill frequently never changed until lunchtime during the World War II, with him summoning secretaries and colleagues, while he worked on papers in bed wreathed in a gaudy dressing gown, surrounded by his cats. Marcel Proust, too, wrote most of his best works from his bed. The survey, undertaken by Nectar Business adults found that 8 per cent of women never manage to get changed at all during the day, while 27 per cent have held a business call while they were in the bath. Four out of ten admit that they use "working from home" to catch up with household chores, while 39 per cent of people have taken a business call whilst out with friends at a bar, pub or café. | | | | |
Any confessions?

When working from home, I often do so in my PJs and I tend to take a lot more breaks. However, I still get more work done than I would with all the distractions of the office.

WTF does it matter how they're dressed as long as they get the work done?
Furthermore I don't think this can be true because my reading of the right-wing press has convinced me that the work-shy are confined to the public sector. [/sarcasm]

This is why I've always tried to find an industry where you're judged on your work not whether or not you turn up in a suit. Had a lot of fun picking shiny-suited salesmen apart while wearing jeans and t-shirts - 'Hello, I'm the office manager, your cost per page is too high and I'm not seeing anything about minimum lease times. Explain it to me.' Happy days.

Shorter more intense working means you probably get it done without burning your self out.

Yes, the next study is to find out how many home workers do business with their Jacobs hanging out of their keks.

+2 I do wear a robe for pottering about, making breakfast, catching up with the online gossip first thing - in fact, I'm wearing it right now. I will get dressed in a short while, then get on with the tasks of the day.

With the increased use of Video calls (Skype etc) will soon have to do the newsreaders trick - a shirt and tie and nothing else

Only 8pc? I would think more than that.
I often start work in PJs(or equivalent), take a shower while waiting for people to get back to me, and dress later.
Probably more productive for it.

Better still a T-shirt with a tie printed on it.

Personally, getting out of bed, getting washed and changed helps me focus. Lounging in bed all day would mean I'd never get any work done. Even at the weekend, I will be up at 7am if not 6am and will be ready for the day.

Lounging around in bed is the best; I love a good snooze.
