There can be (should have been) only one.

If one is diving so close to the limits that +/- 1% will make a difference then the error has already been made.

Heh, +1. Is The G.I. JOE Sequel Closing In On A Director??THIS very brief piece at Latino Review reveals the "short list" of directors who might take the helm of a forthcoming G.I. JOE sequel. We've previously learned that the first film's director, Stephen Sommers, would not be returning to direct the picture. Per LR, the candidates are said to be... Jaume Collet-Serra (HOUSE OF WAX, ORPHAN, GOAL II, UNKNOWN) F Gary Gray (THE ITALIAN JOB,. LAW ABIDING CITIZEN, A MAN APART, SET IT OFF) and John Chu (JUSTIN BIEBER: NEVER SAY NEVER, STEP UP 2, STEP UP 3D) Not a list that any of us were expecting. Of this group, F. Gary Gray would seem to be the most appropriate choice. But, then again, who woulda figured Rob Marshall would be directing a PIRATES OF THE CARIBBEAN movie? ... The first one just about got away with it (and I HATE everything that director's done) cos it knew how silly it was. but my God those people above need a good shaking...

Ryan Gosling signs on for Logan’s Run remakeRyan Gosling may have been robbed of an Oscar nod at this year’s Academy Awards (for Blue Valentine), but he’s still one of the coolest actors around. Need proof? Well, he’s just signed on to star in the WB’s remake of sci-fi Logan’s Run. Gosling will work with his Drive director Nicolas Winding Refn on the project – seems the WB are suitably impressed with the pair’s upcoming action movie that they’re happing handing over the keys to a big tentpole film. The original Logan’s Run, based on William F. Nolan’s novel, was released in 1976 and starred Michael York and Jenny Agutter. Plotwise, it’s set in a perfect future world where there’s one glaring downside: life ends at 30, no matter what. Though Hollywood is the only place in the world that doesn't seem to be suffering from remake fatique, the pairing of Gosling with Refn should guarantee that the new Logan's Run has its own unique, indified vibe. Drive, which follows a Hollywood stuntman who’s targeted after a heist gone wrong, opens later this year. ... I've never seen it (though it was on TV not too long ago), was it a TV series too?

My immediate reaction is 'STOP RAPING MY CHILDHOOD YOU BASTARDS'. Anyway.. yes, Logan's Run was indeed a TV series. The plot of which follows on directly from the film as a group lead by Logan explore the world outside. It's standard 70's scifi telly really - not classic, made fairly cheapy but entertaining in a cheesy kind of way. Rather unlike the film though, which has very dark undertones.

Lovely. From my perspective, the majority of those films were so 'of their time' that the original directors would struggle to update them, never mind the inevitable hack that'll get hired these days It's a shocking list for someone like me who studies the odd film site , never mind Joe Bloggs who might not want reminding of just how old he is

Martin Lawrence talks Bad Boys 3 potential“They’re working on a script now”Martin Lawrence likes sequels. He’s currently donning drag again in plump-rump follow-up Big Mommas: Like Father Like Son. And, according to him, Bad Boys 3 is still also on the horizon. The former looks pretty dreadful, which is probably why the star spent time talking up the far more enticing prospect of another action team-up with Will Smith. The Bad Boys series stars Lawrence and Smith as detective buddies who work in the narcotics division of the Maimi-Dade Police. The first film from 1995 was Michael Bay’s debut, while a follow-up arrived in 2003 and grossed a massive $273 worldwide. “They're working on a script now,” Lawrence confirms to Digital Spy. “That's something I think looks very real. Will told me that he wanted to do it as well. "Michael Bay I heard was on board and Jerry Bruckheimer. We'll see.” He was unable to provide any sort of start date for the production, though, reasoning: “Those guys are very busy. There's no timeline.” http://www.totalfilm.com/news/martin-la ... -potential

Terminator franchise could be resurrected by Justin LinFast Five director interestedThe Terminator could finally be back. If Universal have anything to do with it, that is. After reports last year that the rights to the Terminator franchise, long in contention, went to Pacificor for $29.5m, Universal are looking to approach the company about resurrecting the franchise with director Justin Lin at the helm. After McG took an underwhelming stab at the series in 2009 with Terminator Salvation, the future of the franchise looked uncertain. While McG has always been keen on creating a trilogy, it seems that has now officially fallen into the gutter. Sad, because his ideas for bringing Linda Hamilton and Robert Patrick back into the mix sounded relatively interesting – even if Salvation left much to be desired. Most interestingly is the possibility that Lin, best known for his work on the Fast And Furious films, could be working from the awesome-sounding script treatments by James Cameron collaborator William Wisher. He'd be crazy not to. As any fans of the first two Terminator films will know, the future is never certain. Let's see where this road takes us. Source: Deadline http://www.totalfilm.com/news/terminato ... justin-linAbout to read the ideas linked to, but my God, why buy the rights and then hire an idiot? ... Sherlock Holmes 2 is called A Game Of Shadows
The Amazing Spider-Man got a brand new title only yesterday – so why not Sherlock Holmes 2, as well? The official title to Guy Ritchie’s period follow-up has been revealed as the very mysterious, number-less Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows. What that has to do with the plot itself is beyond us, though it’s just as ambiguous as any of the titles dreamed up by Arthur Conan Doyle (The Signs Of The Four…) All we know about the story for Game Of Shadows so far is that it reunites Holmes and his trusted associate Watson as they finally battle arch nemesis Professor Moriarity – with the help of Holmes’ brother Mycroft. Mad Men’s Jared Harris plays Moriarity, Stephen Fry is Mycroft, and Noomi Rapace makes her English-language debut as a gypsy. We wonder if she watched My Big Fat Gypsy Wedding for research. Sherlock Holmes: A Game Of Shadows opens 16 December. Source: E! Online http://www.totalfilm.com/news/sherlock- ... of-shadows

MGM set to move RoboCop remake into productionRedo still on the cards despite post-bankruptcy restructureBy Matt Maytum | Feb 20th 2011 MGM are apparently moving ahead with production of the RoboCop remake, despite axing their entire digital department. The studio is still in the process of restructuring following its emergence from bankruptcy in December 2010 (you probably remember the legal wrangles that kept Bond 23 and The Hobbit from entering production as speedily as they otherwise might.) There have been unconfirmed whispers that the company may be remaking several old properties, including Mr Mom and Poltergeist, but RoboCop seems like the surest bet at the moment. Sadly it's unlikely that Darren Aronofsky will be involved in the remake, as he's currently working on X-Men prequel-sequel The Wolverine with Hugh Jackman. Here's hoping that MGM set an equally interesting, visionary director to work on the project, rather than someone who'll simply churn out a generic action flick. Currently the studio have The Hobbit, Bond 23, and fairytale revamp Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters in production. With MGM finding its feet again, expect to hear official announcements of forthcoming projects very shortly. Source: Mashable http://www.totalfilm.com/news/mgm-set-t ... productionMost remakes you shake your head in despair, but for me a remake of Mr Mom has crossed over into LOL territory by virtue of sheer rubbishness
