The only reason I'd get a tablet is so I can pretend I'm on Star Trek. Not quite a good enough reason. Not quite.

Yes but you could walk around with it say things like "Captains log" and "Make it so", you could get the iPad to play Star Trek theme music as well.

Is it sad that that's now tempting me?

Of course not! And for the humorous amongst us, this post does NOT need fixing. Mark

Yup, iPad when it was first out. I'll look at iPad 2 but don't expect it to be different enough to warrant spending the shillings this time around. Interested in a 7" Android just to play with (...nope, can't think of a joke, sorry) but silly prices/data contracts prevent that interest from developing any further <shrug>

I was considering the iPad but blew my money on two big iMacs. This year the inclusion of the camera makes it worthwhile. The only thing that will make me upgrade will then be 1080p screen resolution or equivalent.

Got my hopes up about their pricing for a millisecond, I read it as two big Macs.

I always read that as Laughing My For The [LIFTED] and then my brain gets confused as to why it isn't making sense.

I feel that with a netbook and iPhone, I've got all bases covered. The iPad would be great for reading stuff, but I do more typing.

Apparently, Cambridge Computers Z88 is a tablet computer. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/Cambridge-Compute ... 5320wt_998The Z88 was Clive Sinclair’s portable computer which (oddly for him) ran BBC Basic, and had a BBC Micro compatible word processor (PipeDream) installed. Unsurprisingly, I have one. I was THE only student at university with a portable computer (early 1990s). I was writing my essays on it in the library. Gteat machine, very light, decent keyboard. Pretty decent screen for the time. A tablet PC? No - not by today’s standards.
