At least 3 people have mentioned it on here now, so hands up - who plays? I mostly play on a friend's server with just 3 other people, but the world is pretty vast already and there's some really interesting stuff. I have a couple of worlds of my own, which are pretty terrifying to be honest. However, I've reached the point where I'm wondering what to do next. I've experimented with my own server, but I don't really have the bandwidth for more than one or two remote players - it seems to use about 0.5Meg each, which is a lot Are there any servers people on here use? What kind of stuff do you get up to?

as may be fairly obvious - i play. a lot tend to play in single player on peaceful mode, things on my map include: floating island house, with main room, bedroom, attic and basement with garbage disposal (basically a lava pit ) floating fountain island an attempt at making Donkey Kong, using timed minecarts as barrels. (didnt work, minecarts wouldnt fall between floors without an occupant) a 3x3x3 glowstone lighthouse, perched on top of Donkey Kong my Valentines card, complete with viewing platform (also branched off of Donkey Kong) ~300 block long railway, from Alpha base to Bravo, covered entirely in glass, with redstone-controlled train catches at both ends. the Alpha end is built inside a natural hill next to my floating island house ~150 block long undersea transport system from Alpha to Charlie, in a 3x3 tunnel roughly 15 blocks down from sea level (floor-wise) an 8-bit adder, with 2 bytes of working memory, input caches, and a functional (though basic) instruction set. i have more information on this in my Facebook notes, ill make them public and post a link if anyone is interested in its development various mines and excavations, including a humongous strip mine that sweeps across a large area on layer 5 (the layer bedrock starts appearing on) also play on multi-player with my girlfriend, on a server belonging to Aprilon Dynasty. our only notable structure on that is the Obsidian Batsignal, which has been well documented both in the random pictures thread and on facebook. the server contains a lot of awesome things built by other people though, its great to just wander around and look at stuff TL:DR - i build lots *EDIT* oh i almost forgot!!! i made my + girlfriends player skins i use a TF2 Spy skin, and she has a TMNT Donatello skin weve had complements from other players on both of them, but im hesitant about posting in case they get stolen

I'm tempted, very tempted. Especially after seeing some of the things out there. The 1:1 scale model of the Enterprise D is probably a good reason not to start playing.

There's millions of people into this. It's like DOOM crossed with Lego and Farmville / Sims. It seems most people seem to get hooked on the technical Lego part It's taken me two weeks to finally make a bow and arrow, because the only way I can find string is to rape the HUGE scary spiders. Now I'm having fun at night, instead of hiding behind a cactus It's still in Beta, but the bugs are really confusing me. My primary PC has started black-screening and running slow, despite me clearing out the cache etc... However, my lowly Atom 230 media centre plays is absolutely perfectly and quite fast. A mate's Athlon 64 can't run it hardly at all, despite running much more demanding games like Portal just fine. Anyone else have interesting bugs?

the black screen bug is linked to the game using too much graphics memory, if that is whats causing it then lowering the view distance usually fixes it i had it happen on "far" quite a lot, but never on "normal" there are quite a few bugs in the game, mostly due to the way it updates waster and lava blocks. one that ive found is that if you trek out into water more than two blocks deep, place a block so that there is water beneath and on atleast two sides of it (this can be done by placing a block on the bottom, then one on top of that and removing the lower block), then remove that block, the water doesnt refill properly, just creating a vortex where the block used to be. found this out after building a 100 block long dirt line to mark where my undersea tunnel was going, it was a pain to clean up

Minecraft coming to iPhone, iPadOne of the biggest PC indie releases of recent years, Minecraft, is to be released officially on iPhone and iPad, it's been confirmed. Developer Mojang told Gamasutra that the iOS version of the hit PC game is currently in the beta stages and a full release is planned for sometime this year. Markus Persson, founder of Mojang confirmed that the iOS edition will not receive every update that the PC original gets, but rather will be granted those features that "make sense" for the touch-screen devices. Minecraft has seen numerous unofficial releases on iPhone and iPad so far, but this is the first official edition from the Mojang team. http://www.computerandvideogames.com/29 ... hone-ipad/

I'll visit. Any particular rules, or can I just build stuff anywhere? Been busy today trying out the new release. We were hoping it would address the lag issues we've been seeing, but if anything it made it worse. However, it looks like the server admin suite may have been at fault. We require lots more building to be sure Main features are: Slightly smoother lighting, which seems to slow my rendering down significantly. No more eternal fire

and redstone delay circuits. spent the last half hour or so playing around with them, and they seem pretty useful for timing-sensitive circuits. i could probably go on for a few paragraphs, but im resisting the urge and the new lighting model can be turned off and reverted to the old method by "options > video settings > smooth lighting"

I’m in two minds about Minecraft. I’m interested, but wondering if my interest would wane quickly. So far, I’ve watched but not participated.

Classic is free to play on-line, but be aware that it's very far removed from the current version. It's basically just the model with no real gameplay, but it gives you some idea of what it's like to walk around the world and build stuff.

My first encounter with Slimes. It was a WTF moment because there were so many to start with they were all on top of each other and I thought it was a glitch. I can only kill the tiny ones. The bigger ones gunk up your sword and just refuse to die, even when you push them into lava. However, once trapped in the lava they make a good replacement for the eternal fire
