I am so going to visit the Volcano, no matter what people say. ;)

Stand at the top and say "Well, it's not as good as they said it was going to be"

I have been to Lanzarote a couple of times – a friend has a couple of apartments in the old part of the town – a lot nicer than the new “Nightclub & Vomit” end of town. Having said that it is better than most.

If you have been reading up then you will have found all of the main tourist spots – defiantly worth visiting
- The Volcano
- César Manrique's house
Its thanks to him that it is not full of high rise apartments

OH and something else (un less you speak it) take some Spanish lessons on mp2 etc with you and learn the lingo

Any other tips from your friend would be well worth knowing. My whole job is going to be showing people around and getting to know the best spots that locals are into etc. I have basic French and Spanish is very similar grammatically and in some vocabulary. Plus I have a GCSE in Spanish, so I'm hoping some of that will come back, like my GCSE French did in France. But I'm also gonna do the Michel Thomas CDs before I go. Done the first one already. I'm very keen to learn and would love to have conversational fluency before I finish out there.

Anyone got any tips on my list? Also for the nerds, are 2.5" externals automatically slower than 3.5", and do people have favourites?

I've been to Lanzarote once and I'm going again in May; if that's some kind of recommendation. I did the island tour which takes in the volcano and lava fields and did quite a few dives- it has to be the best for diving and snorkelling of the three Canary Islands that I've been to.

I can't remember anything too specific- the misfortune of having been to so many wonderful places in the world- but I certainly can't remember anything negative. Have a great time.

Have a great time fella !!!

Don't forget to switch off your phone when off duty and don't put up with any [LIFTED] from the tourists lol

Look forward to seeing you back in circulation later in the year unless your employers are so impressed with you that they send you further afield.
