An anonymous source has told Everything HQ that Sony is 'already deep in development' of a new PS3 SKU that isn't susceptible to recent system security exploits.

The hack-proof model is said to be a slim PS3 boasting a 300GB hard drive. The report claims it will cost £186.99.

Sony is also said to be planning to cut the price of existing PS3 hardware to £170 in order to help clear out the inventory and make way for the new SKU.

The launch timing of the new model has reportedly not been decided yet, as Sony awaits the conclusion of its legal battle with PS3 hacker George Hotz.

Seems unlikely to me, but this is private failboat-owning Sony, so...

Hack proof eh? Hang a sign why don't you, Sony.

Jeez, talk about throwing down the gauntlet to the hacker community.

Anyone want to bet it gets hacked in record time?

Just like bullet proof glass? Oh wait, companies that make that call it "bullet resistant glass". They know full well no glass is bullet proof.
The same will be true here. Sony may make it harder to hack. But it will be hacked none the less, it will just take a bit longer.

So... this means the PS3 might get slightly cheaper for a while?
Hmm.
Damn this GT5 itch...
