Netgear ADSL Router Problem

My in-laws have a Netgera DGN200 with 1 PC wired in and a couple of laptops/ phones attached wirelessly. Recently the router stopped giving out IP addresses to wired devices. Wireless works correctly.

Originally I thought this was the PC so took the PC home, but it connected to my router with no issues. I've also tested my laptop with a wired connection and no IP address (Wirelessly was OK).

I've upgraded the firmware to the latest version on Netgear's site (1.1.11.0) but this had no impact.

Can anybody suggest anything else before I go out and replace the router?

TIA.

You've probably covered this, but is there more than one Ethernet socket on it, and if so are they all doing the same thing?

I take it the computers connected via Ethernet are getting a 169 IP Address?

Reset to factory defaults? :?

I have the same router and config happy to work through settings in PM if you wish.

also worth backing up settings ( it exports to a txt file ) once you have it working again.

Thanks for the suggestions.

The computers connecting via Ethernet are getting an 169 IP address and the same thing happens on all ports.

I've just tried Reverting to Factory Settings (settings backed up first) and this didn't change the behaviour.

Have you tried assigning the wired PC a static address?

If you still don't get access with a valid static address you can safely assume that the switch part of the router is fubar'd

I did try reserving an IP address and then seting the PC's IP address to the reserved one. At this stage I could not ping the router or any other network device from the PC and no other device could ping the PC.

I think the router is broken and have now replaced it.

Many thanks for the suggestions.
