Hi,
I am desperately in need of some memory for my early 2009 mac pro. I think one of the modules has died as it only shows 2gb and there are 3gb worth of dimms.
The system is bogging down every few minutes and i am getting spinning beach balls.
I would normally buy from crucial, but for the last 10 days they have been out of stock, so , i am wondering if anyone has a reliable alternative source for mac memory that has the same guarantees?

TIA

Didge.

I was going to suggest Kingston, but as their page here - http://www.kingston.com/tools/assessor/macosx.asp - is woefully out of date, I'm not sure I want to.

Have you tried taking the RAM out of the machine, and just reseating it? It may just need a bit of a wiggle.

Never used them before, but I've heard some good things about Mr Memory - without knowing more detailed specs about your Mac Pro I can't link to a specific price, as there are quite a few 2009 Mac Pros listed under the wizard menu. Try selecting your model in the list.

The question is though, if crucial don't have any, will anybody else?

OK I have ordered 6gb from mr memory.

They were cheap (not sure that is good for memory ) and they had stock.

£60 + vat for 6gb .. its guaranteed so if its rubbish it will go back ..

That was quick. It arrived today, free 1st class recorded. The dimms are kingston and so far so good ..

I guess I have to recommend mr memory based on my experience so far ..

1/ cheapest.

2/ quick free delivery.

3/ works fine

I looked yesterday - their prices seemed pretty good. I may even up my Mac Pro to 10GB.
