As far as I know the iPad 2 doubles the amount of RAM from the original model, which now takes it to 512 megs. That's seemingly more than enough for film editing and music creation, if the vids of iMovie and GarageBand are anything to go by. Mark

Just to clarify - it appears to me iMovie iPad is not merely an upgrade to iMovie iPhone, which already exists, but an entirely separate app? So if you bought iMovie for your iphone, you'll have to buy it again for iPad?

I presume so. I guess it'd be like buying Angry Birds for your iPhone 3GS and then buying Angry Birds HD for your iPad...

Well I have set up a reminder of when they are available in the UK. I am still umming and ahhing about ram size but will be opting for the black wifi version with either 32 or 64 Gb.

Last year, I ummed and ahhed abut the RAM size. I ended up with a 32MB one as the price jump to 64 was much more than the jump from 16 to 32.

I can afford either but it really depends on whether I decide to upgrade next year. I might not in which case 64Gb will keep me going till the next significant upgrade. A high resolution screen will the thing that makes me buy. Plus it is only £100 extra. I like the feature to play 1080p movies to a HD TV. That makes the extra ram far more useful, meaning no need for an Apple TV to do the same thing.

I thought that's what you meant, but then Paul's post confused me further. Mark

Yes - 16, 32 or 64GB. I've got a 64Gb original iPad and I find that much more than adequate, I suspect 32GB would be fine.
On the iOS iMovie front, it seems the app has been updated to be 'universal, but iTunes is hardcoded not to install it on first generation iPads. You can get it on there and it works fine and it will pull movies off cards using the ipod camera connector for editing but the next time you sync with iTunes it will be removed automatically. Hmmm. This is 'a very rum do'.
