Yeah, seen them. What I like about the Giottos one I linked to (and this is also true of the Manfrotto 'pod that Edd and Nick both have) is the ability to swing the centre column out to the side to get really low level shots. The Three Legged Thing's work like my current tripod; you have to remove the centre column from the tripod and then invert it and put it back in the tripod upside down. If I'm going to upgrade my tripod, I may as well do it with one that makes it easier to use for me. Mark

my 055XProB does that sideways thing and also slips out so you can turn the stalk completely upside down. Gets within mm's of the ground So, you bought a zoom. Wise choice given the post processing recovery software available these days Al

That's what me and Nick have, too. It's awesome.

They're not light though, are they. Mine has to regularly go in my check-in luggage along with my clothing and other sundries when I'm off flying visiting places/friends. Weight is a factor here. Mark

I agree they're not light - one could even venture to suggest they are a bit on the heavy side which is why, if you want to go CF and retain the same rigidity (is that a word???), you generally have to go for the version up from that which costs mega-bucks. Al

But I only have a light professional aluminium tripod now, so that carbon one linked to will be more rigid (and yes, rigidity is a word).

Both UK based etailers, so I'm hoping I'll have them before the end of the week.

Not West Yorkshire via UPS, then?

As an aside, it seems there may well be a 4kg package not very far from where I'm sitting. Scheduled delivery end of the day. According to the tracking, it only arrived at the UPS depot yesterday. I was right in assuming they only packed it and shipped it when I complained on Friday.

Tripod arrived this morning. It's very much sturdier than my now previous tripod. It's also very much taller too, which means no stooping when taking photos now. PoiDH to follow.
