I thought it was ok but typical action fare. The FPS sequence near the end of the movie was great. I see in the Comments section of the above article that someone has complained that the Doom movie deviated too much from the source material. I'm about two-thirds of the way through Doom 3 now and if ever a game was the same thing over and over again, this is it. Wouldn't make much of a movie, I'd say.

FULL COMEDY GEEK OUT!! Albert Brooks Joining Judd Apatow’s Sequel To KNOCKED UP??http://www.aintitcool.com/node/48886While I liked the original, it didn't set my world alight (Yank comedies rarely do these days), so I'm not exactly impressed by the notion of a sequel...

Liam Neeson Now Ready For 'Taken 2' EncoreUPDATE: Liam Neeson and Luc Besson have come to a meeting of the minds and they have worked out the scheduling snafu that made him iffy for Taken 2. Neeson's reps at CAA are now closing the deal for Neeson to reprise what has become a signature role. Production is now being eyed for year end or beginning of 2012. Neeson will stick to his plan to take the rest of the year off, after completing the Clash of the Titans sequel he's shooting in London. He has been working almost nonstop, wrapping The Grey for Joe Carnahan and Battleship for Peter Berg. EARLIER EXCLUSIVE: A fascinating drama has been playing out over the past few weeks on Taken 2, the sequel to the surprise global hit film hatched by Luc Besson that reinvigorated Liam Neeson. I'm told Besson has teamed on a script with Robert Mark Kamen, and that he's in talks with his Transporter 3 director Olivier Megaton to direct the sequel. But he has been dealing with a huge problem: Neeson has all but withdrawn from reprising his role as Bryan Mills, the retired government operative who in the 2008 original decimated the Paris underworld to free his kidnapped daughter. The reason isn't money, but rather scheduling: Besson wants to shoot it this year and Neeson wants to take time off. Continuing without Neeson is hard to imagine, but I've heard Besson has gone as far as assembling a list of actors to take his place. That list includes Mickey Rourke, Ralph Fiennes, Ray Winstone, Sean Bean and Jason Isaacs. I'm told that as of yesterday, things started turning toward a Neeson return, but it's by no means definite. Besson went back to Neeson, and they are working up a schedule that will allow Neeson to shoot the movie in Istanbul later this year and still give the actor the time he needs. To me, that would be good news because not a lot of sequels come along that make you say, I really want to see more of that. It would also be good news for 20th Century Fox, which is expected to return as distributor. The original grossed $146 million in the U.S., and topped out at around $227 million, and it wasn't an expensive film to make. http://www.deadline.com/2011/03/big-dra ... d-taken-2/I could be wrong, but it's hard to see where they could take it - I really liked the original, but it wasn't like it had a grand plot you could hang stuff off without diminishing returns...

All that comes to mind for me is his daughter ignoring advice and common sense, and doing something stupid again. Kind of like Jack Bauer's daughter in 24.

MGM planning to reboot Child's Play franchise this yearBrad Dourif will return to voice ChuckyMGM is currently rebooting a ton of its old properties, including RoboCop, Poltergeist and Mr Mom. Now you can add Child's Play to that list as MovieWeb are reporting that the studio are finally moving forward with a remake, which has been in development for some time. Don Mancini, the writer of all the previous Chucky movies, has written the script, which had been held up so far due to a now-resolved rights issue between MGM and Universal (the latter holding sequel rights). Production is scheduled to begin later this year, with Brad Dourif returning to voice Chucky. The aim is to make the movie less funny and more scary, with Mancini telling MovieWeb in a previous interview: "That's really our goal with this next movie, bottom-line, was to make it scary again. "After having, I think, rather successfully mined the horror-comedy aspects of this concept over the course of Bride of Chucky and Seed of Chucky, the fans are really telling us that they want it to be scary again. "Doing the remake just provides us with a really good opportunity to bring it home, so to speak." It all sounds a little pointless, doesn't it? What with all the reboots flying around at the moment, it seems strange to refresh a series with the same talent that has been involved in the five earlier installments. Could it prove to be a worthwhile venture, or will we just end up with a lazy cash-in? The original Child's Play saw a serial killer's soul trapped inside a kids' doll. The red-headed scamp would return for four sequels, Part II, Part III, Bride of Chucky and Seed of Chucky. Source: MovieWeb http://www.totalfilm.com/news/mgm-plann ... -this-yearI expect shaky-cam bollocks and a bunch of people you couldn't give a sh1t about anyway...

The Teaser/Trailer For Paul W.S. Anderson's THREE MUSKETEERS Has Arrived!!http://www.aintitcool.com/node/49008That reminded me of Woeful Wild Wild West, though clearly it's been made all special with lots of 3D-needlessness

You could tell it was made by the director of Resident Evil immediately! I thought "I wonder if Milla is in this?" and here she is giving it her best Alice technique! Ridiculous. I think they're trying (hoping!) for more of a Sherlock Holmes vibe. At least Anderson has never made a film as jaw-droppingly bad as Wild Wild West....yet.

He's only 46, there's time yet! Oh, and I think I've figured out how him and Wiseman get these gigs - they're taking their respective wives along to the boardroom meetings: 'Mr Wiseman if your wife will just talk to me like the scum I am, I will totally let you remake Total Recall. With an Irishman. Even though you're an absolute cretin.'
